mpeg4 is a codec can also be called mp4
.mp4 is a container

thanks for the info. I think I'll use huffyuv as it seems to be the popular one. I can convert avis to huffyuv using virtualdub right? and just another question. does after effects support huffyuv? sorry, I'm a total newbie in this lol

Yes, convert the avs with vitrual dub and yes, after effects can import huffyuv vids. :D

thx alot people, all of you are really helpful. thank god I came here. just one more thing. how do I get virtual dub? I mean the one that isnt corrupted? I downloaded 2 times, but my AVG always said the thing had a trojan horse in it. does anyone have a lnk to the proper virtual dub? Pleae and thank you :)

virtual dub seems to be working, but it doesnt seem to be able to import the file. It says directshow codecs are not suitable. what do I do?

may or may not be your problem, if you are completly missing the codec im not sure where to dl individually (i just got mine with the amvapp)
