muxing contents of an srt file into video

Post by BasharOfTheAges » Thu Nov 29, 2007 6:46 pm

So, for a project I'm doing for a class I need to have segments of video that I can embed into a power point presentation to play on a computer with unknown decoding capabilities. I need to take about 3 minutes from a movie that I just realized gets its subs from an .srt file. Any suggestions?

As long as you have VSFilter.dll in AviSynth's plugins directory, you can do this:

Code: Select all

TextSub("script.srt")
You'll need to demux the subtitles first. If you use FFmpegSource to load the video (as I'm assuming the source is in MKV, MP4, or OGM due to being the ones most used for softsubbing - if you can extract the video safely to AVI then AVISource is also available obviously), then loading the subs afterwards with TextSub is required. With DirectShowSource it may or may not be required to call TextSub. After calling TextSub, use Trim to excise the segment(s) you need.
