AVI problems
I'm tryin to make a amv using wmm. The video file is an .avi format. When I make the amv it will start to run smoothly and then it will freeze up at points, sometimes shutting wmm down. I dont want to convert the file to wmv because it will reduce the quality. Any suggestions?

better? if you don't want to lose quality then you want to use a lossless codec...
you can always try to use lagarith instead of huffyuv and disable the sound to save a bit more space,
but most of the people on this forum don't recommend that for wmm and say that it causes the program to be a bit buggy..
that is a FREE method :3

I think Elam89 meant a better program to edit with. Or at least that's how the sentence seems structured to me. Either way, there are at least 100 other threads around that contain the answer to that question including multiple stickies.

I think the motivation behind asking for another program, however, is to try to get around having to convert divx/xvid files.
In that case, it won't work...divx and xvid encoded files are simply not meant to be edited with
in any case, here's a list of free (and not-so free) editing programs
