When should a newbie no longer be called a newbie?
This is a question that has bugged me for a while now. At what point in a newbie's life is he no longer a newbie? Is there a right of passage that the creator must complete? Is it the number of videos completed, The average quailty of the videos, the numbers of contest won, The number of post in the forum, Number of Cons that this creator has been too, or overall time that they've been a AMV creator ?
What is it that makes a person now longer a newbie? And I want to know where in this massive community of creators do I stand... I already know that I'm a unknown, I just wana know if I'm a unknown newbie or a unknown pro?
Thank you for your time.

It's all in the eye of the beholder...nahhh, it's all in the eyes of the creator.

ehhhh, for some reason I figured it would be a little deeper than that.
But, I'll keep that in mind and see what everyone else thinks. Thanx.

Mostly for me it's the principal of it, But I do think this is a question that should be answered, in one way or another. So maybe future newbies could look back to this and know what to aim for. I mean it's not like you can just snap a finger and say. I'm a pro, or He's a newbie. It's not that simple, almost nothing is that simple.

To be a pedant:
The moment you've seriously tried to make an AMV, you're no longer inexperienced in the AMV craft and are therefore no longer a newbie.
I'm pretty sure (1) very few of us get paid to do AMVs and (2) AMVing is something which requires specialized knowledge and a lot of time, so either almost nobody or everybody is a pro.
I'm sure that that came across as being indecisive and useless, so here's another point of view:
Future newbies can just say "gee, this looks cool, I'll try it out", then make a video, say "omfg that sux0rz" and try again, say "omfg that sux0rz" and try again, say "omfg that sux0rz" and try again, and so on. When they think they know what they doing, they think and be pro, for great justice.

Varies from person to person, I think. Possibly when you can look at their music videos and see less cliches then the number you can count on two hands. Cliches, I think, are different from mistakes, because once a newbie slowly becomes "accustomed" to seeing a bunch of different music videos, what works, what doesn't, and what's been done a million different times by a million different people, that's when they seek to be more creative. Once they succeed...well, then, I think that's when they've made the switch (or are in the process of making it) from "newbie" to "pro."
"But don't you get it? Everything's relative! There's no such thing as absolute Truth."
"Perhaps."

trythil : Good answer, I've been serious about my vidoes from number 2 out, but I still belive it's deep than just that.
Insight: That's also true, but as you said "Varies from person to person, I think." So one person's pro may be a newbie in another's eye.
I'm feeling more enlightened, but I still would like further insight(no pun intended). About this.
thanx
