Capture Card Program

Post by MioMug » Mon Dec 24, 2007 9:05 pm

I'm currently running with a WinTV PCI Capture Card, and was wondering if anyone knew of a good program to use in order to capture with it.

The program it comes with spits out crap quality footage, yet I know its not the card's fault because if I were to use the card and program to just watch and not capture the quality is fine, but its the capturing that is the problem.

So if anyone has an answer please let me know, or tell me that my card is crap and that I need to find a better one, or that the answer to this question is clearly posted elsewhere and I'm just to Tired / Lazy to find or read it.

Thanks in Advance

.. are you set for Mpeg-2 capture or AVI capture? .. the xxxBT.inf default is Mpeg-2 but the rate of encoding is set way too low for quality capturing. (just change it)

.. WinTV & ATI AIW are two of the better capture cards and I know they both capture Mpeg-2 by default . . both cards are designed for 400mhz processors with 640 X 480 @ 60fps normal standards.

.. the newer ATI cards, like the 650, can even do 95fps @ 720 X 576 with no problem and support ATSC 720i Digital quality -- if your processor is an AMD 3800+ or newer design.

.. I've been using WinTV'-HVR 905 USB hybrid's for quite some time now (NTSC/ATSC-HD 1080i ) and my first captures were horrid T_T ... I went to the Hauppauge web page where they stated "how to load the software setting" and have not had a problem ever sense.

.. chances are, all you are fighting is bad capture settings 8-)

I use Winfast DV2000 the picture quality is amazing when hooked up with S-Video Cables ;). 10/10

Installation 10/10

Price (bought on ebay for $20): 10/10

Quality: 10/10 (im not rating the quality on the TV antenna as its not that great only capture card hokked up with either Composite or S-Video)

Sound: 8/10 (i would give it a 10 but the quality isnt perfect, although if you hook it up to the PC instead via an audio stereo adapter its perfect).

..hmmm Hmph! ... if you want separate software to Capture with, use Magix 12 pro for direct 3GP, H.263, H.264/AVC, AMR, and AAC capturing .. if your card supports it

Ulead Video Studio 11.5 Plus is the new version which was released about 2 weeks ago. It also states it on Uleads Website.

The major fixes for me was the MPEG OPTIMIZER and VFAPI Issue which has now been fixed with the new version.

.. I had to modify a few things with 11 Plus to get it to co-operate with H264 and [another] and basically, I'll stick with what I've got now 8-) I'm still waiting for the FX 360 X Y Z Rotations to come back.
