  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

Mercury Rising - by Kenzuka

Post by kenzuka » Sat Jan 05, 2008 5:49 pm

Animes used:
- Ghost In The Shell - SAC
- Ghost In The Shell - SAC 2nGIG
- Ranma 1/2
- Cat's Eye

Hi, here is my lastest AMV. It has been a bit more than a month since this vid was released, but I have just begun to come on this forum, so here I am.

Well, this amv was made for the first edition of the Toulouse Game Show in France and I finished 2nd with it. The theme of the contest was the 80's. You can have more details on the vid page.

I hope you enjoy watching it!

Your latest AMV or last? It sounds a bit weird that you just joined the .org (or you've been on the .org for a long time, but just recently began to use the forum?) and aready are done making AMVs.

Anyway, I'll check it out and leave an opinion :D

[EDIT]It was okay, but I feel like you're using footage that has been used thousands of times in other videos and basically in the same way (Mostly talking of the GITS footage, but I guess that could be because so many AMVs of GITS have been made throughout the times - Or perhaps I've watched far too many GITS AMVs :P).

I'm going to give it a 2.2/5 - I didn't feel RANMA and GITS went well together at all :P

@Yarry: Kenzuka means his "latest" vid. It's a common mistake from frenchies since it is translated with the same word ^^".

Well, nice job dude, especially when considering this is only your 2nd work (well, 3rd if you count the french IC too).
Really nice concept too, i liked how Motoko learnt her fighting style from ranma 1/2, this reminds me Trinity from Matrix :) .
Concerning editing, the only glitch IMO is the lip sync at the end, not very natural. Else i enjoyed it.

... Sorry, my english is more than perfectible...

I can not say about that because I watched maybe 5 AMVs at most which featured GITS, so I am not really an expert in the choice of the scenes.

Well, it was the concept of the AMV to draw the parrallel between Gits and Ranma/cat's eye.... ^^"

You are not the first one to talk about matrix for the initial idea, but I really did not think about it when I edited my amv. Well, now that I think about it, it was quite obvious. I am really surprised I did not think of that...

Very good vid.

One thing I love about it is that it's all about mixing: mixing animes, mixing genres, but also mixing slow things and fast things. And everything fits very well together. Your AMV is both fast and calm. That's really cool, your 2nd place is well deserved.
