Madman in Aus overprice their stock, it's much cheaper to actually buy on-line, I got the entire Mahoromatic Seasons and specials for $50 US, here their offloading each season for $69.95 and movies for another $30 each...
US - Aus: 89c
GBP - Aus: 48c

So yeah, in the end purchase from another country ...

However, when they have deals on (especially at Manifest) you can collect box sets for $30 each instead off up to and over $100

x2 for RightStuf.

One of the first threads I started on this site was a bitching session about how lousy the prices were for anime. One of the members here (I forget who) pointed out the sales at RightStuf and that's all it took. Make a list of everything you want. Then when RightStuf does a sale, match it with the stuff from your list.

For instance, you can pre-order the Remix edition (entire series) of Cowboy Bebop for less than $38.

If you think about it, buying anime DVDs is like buying movie sequels. You get the same amount of video in each usually so the price is reasonable.

$25 for 4-5 eps would be reasonable, but 3... no. If you're gonna buy a series with only 3 eps per dvd then just wait for boxset or thinpacks.

yep, in Australia we pay $30 a dvd, we tend to get ripped off in the entertainment market, games and consoles etc... i NEVER buy single anime dvds, I wait a year after the last episode of the series was released on dvd then I buy the boxset instead. So instead of paying 30 x 10 = $300 for every dvd for GTO I bought the boxset for $60 during a winter sales =D

Yes, i genuinly believe so. Anime dvds, in my opinion, are too expensive. Please, will you people stop saying "yeah, but compared to other places..." because you are affected by what the prices are in YOUR area, and no-one elses.

The exception, of course, being box-sets. I think that they're great deals.
