question about capture cards

Post by prYzm » Wed Jan 16, 2008 8:45 pm

ok my brother has a tv capture card which he says he doesnt use anymore and i can have it if i want. i have 2 questions about them
firstly when capturing game footage, do you have to 'live capture' it (eg be at that point of the game, so you can just record it) or is it teh same as ripping where you can just choose what you want.
the second one, is can i use the capture card to record stuff from PC games and not just for recording stuff off a TV?

1) unless you have a lot of hard drive space available, I would start recording LIVE just before the scene I want to capture and end it when desired - yes .. Live

2) if it is designed for TV access, then it can be Captured by your card.

-- just my opinion 8-)

what i meant for the 2nd point, is can it be used like fraps, to record something on your computer? or only to record stuff externally (like from tv or ps2 or w/e)

It's a device used to capture video from an external source... Why on earth would you use something like that to capture something on your computer with hardware when software can do that?
