Ive also noticed there's a lot of music genres and artists people just dont use for AMVs. For example, most music before the 90''s just isnt used at all. Im a big fan of 20's and 30's jazz and I rarely see it on here.

I would also like to know if i were to use a "retro" song for an AMV is there something I should watch out for? Or is it just personal preference why the earlier stuff isnt used? Personally, I like Cab Calloway and Louis Armstrong.

I still listen to the same stuff I did when I was a kid. And what I listened to as a kid was stuff like Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Tom Petty, The Eagles, Eric Clapton, The Who, Simon & Garfunkel, Pink Floyd, Jimmi Hendrix, Rolling Stones, all that stuff. My parents were really big into that stuff, and they passed it on to me.

I really didn't get into any current or popular music till I was probably starting high school. After that, I had a time when I thought I was over old rock, but every time I'd go back, it's like I'd discover something new about it as I got older. Still do. Most music is that way, it grows with you, I think.

I tend to associate certain music with certain times of my life, and when I hear a song or album, it takes me instantly back. (That may be something we all have as editors, it makes sense that those kinds of associations would also do the same thing for us when we choose a source)

In terms of using old rock though, I think there are stories to be told, and the resulting AMV's have the potential to be very deep and meaningful. Maybe even turn some people on to classic rock. Fun times.
