Kanon is overall > Clannad but I admit to Clannad being far more entertaining. There hasn't been much Tomoya x Nagisa development since Fuko's arc which is disappointing and Nagisa is almost taking a side character position as the group grows larger.

I think they're building up his relationship with other girls to enhance the climax of Nagisa's arc, which I can assure you will be epic.

I'm getting that impression as well.
Spoiler :
If Tomoya helps out Tomoya win the elections, Nagisa's club will survive. And if he rejects any of the Fujibayashi's love, it'll lead to the fact he really prefers Nagisa.
And then more drama will ensues, right? I wonder if Tomoya will have his relationship with his dad fixed.

That, and Nagisa's play. I won't say too much because some people haven't played the game yet, but I'm sure for this scene the anime will take a different approach than the game, considering the girls all know each other and are all friends. I shit you not I nearly cried at that scene, I'm sure the anime's rendition of it will be amazing.

Well considering that only happens in the afterstory, I'm wondering how they will deal with it. It will be so dissapointing if they just have a time skip from episode 23 to 24 and spend the last episode rushing over everything in the afterstory, but i'm beginning to think that's how they will do it, with how few episodes they have left.

i think its best to judge after the series ended unless if u want to play the visual novel which will take u like more than a month to beat.

I think you're right, it's best to wait to say whether it was better Kanon or Clannad.
For now, I can only say that Clannad > Air. That's for sure. Between Kanon and Clannad it will be very hard to decide... but the more Fuuko we'll get, the better Clannad will be. :|
Yes, Fuuko will decide everything. I want the last episode to end with a lot of starfish.

Agreed. As you said, the series is still airing, and from what I know from the game, the ending is tear-inducing.

Yes, the game. Go play it if you haven't already. It's like sex. Only better.

Is it eroge? And if it is, is there a version with such scenes removed?

Nope, it's not an eroge. Pure story and plot.

"While both of Key's previous works, Kanon and Air, had been released first as adult games and then censored for the younger market like most bishōjo games, Clannad was released for all-ages; this led to a certain amount of disappointment among fans of Key's adult works. Partly in reaction to the disappointment, an adult sequel-of-sorts, Tomoyo After: It's a Wonderful Life, was released on November 25, 2005."

Chiikaboom wrote:Er about the new episode.. it wasnt that bad. Its funny how im starting to like Tomoyo a lot more and Kyou a lot less heh. I mean i still like the show regardless of the fact it falls into a harem cliche fested mess, its just if thats the case, Kanon will just remain superior.
I wouldn't really call it a harem cliche fested mess just yet, I mean in all seriousness they aren't even making a move on Tomoya. Not to mention it's just 2 girls that are even taking any action. It may just be me, but Clannad, but relationships is exactly the kind of thing Clannad was meant to aim for.
Yeah i know, its just that Air and Kanon were technically harems but they were successful without relying on every single girl falling in love with the main guy. I guess because of that fact i expected Clannad to follow the same kind of thing, but i guess its because Clannad isnt as supernatural as either Air or Kanon and takes Key's dramatic storylines from a very realistic standpoint. And yeah im starting to like Tomoyo a lot more because she's been appearing and getting more development recently, but im losing my love for Kyou because her crush on Tomoya weakened her personality a bit imo.

So yeah Kanon is still superior to Clannad because the character arcs were more creative and far more developed which made the ending very touching and just brought everything together. However i find Clannad slightly superior in different terms, for example the female characters in Clannad have more backbone and Kyoani isnt relying on those retarded moe sayings like "ughuu" or "gaou" (seriously Nagisa only did her "anpan" thing for one or two episodes) which is a bonus for me because i always thought Kanon would have been so much better if it had these qualities. Despite that being said Clannad i dont think is as creative with their storylines and the development isnt as deep as it was in Kanon. Plus, with where the story is currently and its kind of all over the place so i have no idea what Kyoani is going to do next because i dont even know what arc we're in.. so my opinion could change depending on how the show ends. Of course if we compare Clannad to Air, Clannad wins solely on the fact Air had a lot of plotholes, underdeveloped characters, and i still dont understand the thing with the crow. So basically Kanon > Clannad > Air.

About Clannad having two seasons.. i can see it happening because i mean we're already on episode 17 and i dont even know where we are in the story so i have no idea how they'd sum up the series without cutting some stuff out given the small amount of episodes we have left. However i do agree that two seasons of Clannad would be too much. I also agree with OropherZero on how the TomoyaxNagisa relationship hasnt been developing since Fuuko's arc, which is disappointing.
