So, because you don't know have any anti-virus software to tell you that your system is infected, means it's okay? I don't follow that logic.

So, can you give me a link of an antivirus that will actually prove that my PC is infected?

Damn, double post sorry. Just to clarify a thing: it's not that I don't have an antivirus. It's that I used various antiviruses in the past years, and none of them, including the one I am using now (Kaspersky Internet Security 7.0), never found anything. The other antiviruses I used were avast and avg.

Perhaps a language barrier or something, but that's not what you said. My response was tailored to what you said.

Also, adware, spyware, malware is often not picked up with antivirus software. Have you tried using Spybot or Adaware?

This is all tangential to the point that k-lite defines bad codec packs in general. It's history (5+ years IIRC) of throwing shit together regardless of conflicts and redundancy and the fact that 3rd partied packed it with malware and spread it all over the internet is reason enough for people to not trust it at all - that's why people don't.

Yeah, in italian that was understandable, but sometimes I forget that I have to say things differently in english...

I did use spybot search and destroy in past, but it didn't find anything as well.

Well, if there is so much people saying that it's bad, there must be a good reason...
Guess I'll get rid of it. Thanks for the explanation.

well, I installed the cccp, and I left all the defaults. and now the audio is all choppy.

I'm such a noob, but I really need help with this.

I'm gonna try the k-lite pack, and see if that helps.

When you install something like that, you need to make sure you're not installing things you already have... That's how conflicts arise.

copy/pasta from another thread...but it still applies
Kariudo on configuring CCCP wrote:you go start, all programs, combined community codec pack, video decoder settings
go through the codec list and disable ffdshow for all the codecs you have (click on the boxes that say libavcodec, you should then see a few options, one of which is disabled)

you'll probably be disabling divx, xvid, huffyuv and mpeg2
do the same for audio decoder settings

when you're done with that, you may need to click the CCCP settings icon (in the same place as decoder config)
disable decoding of anything you have (checkboxes, similar to the decoder config)
dsiable avi support for haali media splitter and click re-register all filters

there have been some times where I've messed around with the settings and then not been able to play .mkv files, re-registering filters fixed that.

if you don't configure CCCP you will probably run into problems either in your editing program, or when you playback video (or audio)
I'll spare you the technical details of that unless you want them
