No. Generally, subtitles is quite annoying and distracting. They also have a lot of negative side effects to them as well.

Come on, we all know you need stray subs, and you also should ad the Cartoon network logo.

And my personal fav way too many special effects.

Not to mention the same bloomin clips everyone else is using to the exact same anime clips, or differentiated by a new song choice.

Do you mean subtitles as in fansubs/DVD rips, or subtitles as in subtitling the lyrics to a non-English song you're using for the AMV? If it's the first, NO! If it's the second, I'd recommend finding a guide for making a softsub file, which you can offer for download alongside the finished AMV.

I'd rather not see subs of any type.

Perhaps softsubs for the first runthrough of a non-english song, but only once. Once I know what the words are saying, I never feel the need to use the subs again.

Unless they are

A) Translations of a song the viewer likely doesn't understand
B) Translations of what characters are saying either seriously or humerously
C) The lyrics to an AC DC song

they don't belong.

I got a strategy 4 u. Just put another text over the subs and write in it :
"GODIX FTW ! BOW TO HIM !" and you'll get Godix to love ur subbed amv.

Subs are just a sign of unprofessionality in this community and they f*ckin like to flame at newbs and think of themself that they're the best. So better ask in a Y0utube Channel if they like subs or not.
