This was a first year contest, run only by me
I know. Don't stuck on this level.
I'm not quite sure you did know as you mentioned 'organizers' in plural. Nor do I recall you making any mention of these points early on in the contest. So, its cool.

Actually, now that I think about it some more, that would be very bad.

I was just curious about how things got scored, but I'd rather not know if it resulted in quite a flame war. :O

Even technically it does not look like a reputable contest claiming to be the same level as VCA. Please, make it work just like VCA next time, approved by the org and through the site.
I'd like to know how you propose to involve the "whole amv-world", given that it's ill-defined and notoriously difficult to contact any significant portion of beyond those who frequent this forum. The Org is the closest thing to a central point of contact that exists for the "whole amv-world".

Second, nobody claimed that Koop's JCAs are on the same level as the VCAs. Koop designed this contest to complement the VCAs. That's a very different thing.

I'm not even going to touch the not-run-by-Org issue.

 Should we start talking with the YouTubers and start including them in the JCA?

Well, a lot of interesting and valid points... This goes to show that there is not perfect system nor will everyone ever be totally satisfied with any methodology used...

In the end, the JCAs and the VCA are contests all in fun and in the spirit of our community... They shouldn't be something that sparks a war or split in the community

And finally, I'd like to add that I have always loved this community for it seeing beyond the barriers of countries.. We are all AMV creators and I respect peoples works here not matter where they come from. That's what makes this community so great in so many respects :D

- I think judges should base all of their judging systems based on their own rubrics. This way, judges will judge differently and will have more of a unique sense towards videos. Forcing judges to conform to a uniform judging rubric would probably turn him/her off. Judging should *for lack of a better term* come from the heart. :O
I agree with this.

Making it official and run the same way as VCAs should help.
it's ill-defined and notoriously difficult to contact any significant portion of beyond those who frequent this forum.
Of course it isn't difficult, cause there are not so many other significant forums. Though I don`t suggest doing anything outside the org.
Second, nobody claimed that Koop's JCAs are on the same level as the VCAs. Koop designed this contest to complement the VCAs. That's a very different thing.
Come on, it cannot really complement VCAs if it isn't on the same level.
I'm not even going to touch the not-run-by-Org issue.
Even if it wasn't meant to be eventually run by org, I suggest that it should be. And it will make a difference.
Laughing Should we start talking with the YouTubers and start including them in the JCA? Laughing
Do you consider youtubers to be a part of amv community? I don't.

Why aren't they part of the AMV community?

By definition, I think. :D :D
But definitions may vary. By my personal one they are not. :P

Personally, I'm happy with the way it played out. I thought this was fair. To Darius - man, you really fell for godix's trick it seems. I don't think you actually know anything about the guy as a critic. Nor do I understand, let alone share, your other concerns.

I agree with about 80% of the JCA results but only 20% of the VCA (Jasper is probably upset at me for pointing out this fact to her, but honestly, it's nothing about the contest. In fact I was happier with the VCA transparency and the way it was run so tightly this year - by conduct, it was the best VCA in 3 or 4 years. Final results I just didn't agree with, but it doesn't take away from the contest).

As far as the JCA conduct, well, I have nothing to complain about at Koop personally. It worked out as envisioned. It complemented nicely. In a way, I almost wish that between the VCA and JCA we also had an "ECA" where only editors' votes would be counted. Would make an interesting comparison and help bridge VCA and JCA better. But perhaps I'm too ambitious.

Honestly, and I know this may not be a popular thought for the .org administration and the VCA coordinators specifically, but I wish JCA could be adopted by the .org officially. It's the only way I see to balance out criticisms leveled against both, especially the VCA. Otherwise this year, I can only whine that I didn't agree with the wider public in the VCA finals, and that that I wasn't picked as a judge for the JCA. And what kind of complaints are those? Pure whining and dickery, I say

The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…
