- Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
- When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.

That was certainly original
Seriously, I don't think there are much videos sharing such an original concept and a way to execute it. It's actually pretty mind-blowing Well, the point is, you carried your concept very well there. While you can't really 'get' this video with one viewing and it's actually not even the easiest story to follow because of the huge amount of detail and just the combo that might be confusing in itself. But with several viewings, it grows on you
The effects were amazing though I'm not really sure about beat sync. It's not like it matters much in this case but I just generally feel like the video doesn't flow smoothly if the sync isn't correct. You could have got your timing lots better, but no way it's gonna ruin this video O: Anyway, I'll drop you an op later on so I won't get into too much detail here @.@
4/5 Excellent video, especially for your second O:

Holy shit. The first words out of my mouth after this video ended were "That was fucking awesome." It's no secret I love FFVII: AC videos, but this one completely and totally owns every other AC video i have ever seen, at LEAST in originality. You did such a fantastic job of doing literal sync and telling your own, very creative and original story that...well, it kinda left me almost speechless (see: above). I have NO IDEA how you were able to take this source and make it into something so refreshing and fun. Whatever you did...keep doing it o_O
I do have one complaint, though. A good bit of the middle of the video was forgettable. The beginning and end were really full of little and not-so-little additions of your own, but the middle seemed pretty barren and straight and reminded me more of what you'd expect from a boring action AC video.
That aside, everything else about this video left me with a HUGE smile on my face. If anyone had told me it was possible to combine these sources into a really, really good video, I would have walked away, but you have proven me wrong.
Also, this is far and beyond the best-looking AC video I have ever seen, period.
5/5
You are coming along quite nicely.

Nothing like waking up after only three hours of sleep to find a need to reply to extensive feedback on your AMV.
I agree with everyone's comments about this AMV being uneven on several levels, and if you give me a little of your time hopefully I will address some concerns that have been raised and open discussion for others...if necessary. Don't want to turn this into an AMV-review session, after all.
@Emong:
I know this video can be a lot to take in, I don't expect people to get to the end and feel like they didn't miss a thing. I think when you saw the beta version, one of my main concerns was making sure that an important image, word(s) or concept came through clearly at any given time the funny sauce was on screen (funny sauce = all my comic extras, for those in "the know"). I still don't think I managed to accomplish this, but at some point I kind of threw up my hands and said: there's a lot worse "flashy" stuff in AMVs than this and people don't complain too much, so even if I don't like it, I guess it's ok.
As far as the sync...well, there's sync and then there's SYNC. I'd say I got the sync, except in a few places that I will gladly confess to if necessary because they annoy me to no end.
And as far as the "effects..." I didn't even list digital effects in the op area as a rating choice because all the things I'd consider effects were *cough* presets or plain scale/positioning tweaks. I don't look at this kind of manipulation of an object's movement as an effect, per se, and I don't really think there's any original, noteworthy effects per se in this AMV. Except for the big track matte (which took me 30 hours, easy, don't ask) and a bit of minor masking in AE...there's nothing here that required very much technical knowledge or skill in the video editing department (because god knows I don't have it). This is fairly low level stuff that maybe deserves a pat on the head for execution, but not much more. Perhaps the "effects" seem more like "effects" because they're simple techniques pushed to an extreme. I felt confident enough that they would work to use them, but if I'd been lacking confidence they'd never have been put into play.

I forgot to put this in the comments section: in addition to wanting to turn AC upside and shake it, from the very first time I ever saw AC I've had an overwhelming desire to grab Cloud & Co. by the collar and yell "GET OVER YOURSELVES! You're working for ME now." Bustin was kind of an exercise in how high I could make them jump. I don't know that I'll make another full-length AC AMV like this, because quite frankly it's exhausting and I've got other things I want to do, but there are a handful of AC shorts in the works that might be forthcoming months and months from now. Nothing on the level of 'Bustin, though... I don't know yet, like I said, it's exhausting and there are other things I'd like to play with.
As far as your complaint about the middle of the video, that actually was the most annoying to put together, not only in terms of making things flow and be a (small) cut above a straight rehashing of the footage, but in terms of yanking my funny sauce in. The beginning of the AMV and the end of the AMV were pretty solid in my mind when I sat down to work, so I was left with the unfortunate task of trying to bridge the gap without knowing ahead of time quite how I was going to do so. I also was working with a pretty small pool of footage here (not as small as my last AMV, thank goodness), so there was only so far I could stray from the path AC was on, at least in terms of the sequence of events. I think the time between when Yazoo and Loz start their terrorism and Cloud shows up is maybe 10-15 minutes(?)...not a lot of footage to make several minutes of AMV with.
@Ingow
I know, I had to stare at it for four months straight!! I too wish Advent Children was longer, more varied and more conducive to AMVing. Join me in signing a petition to Square-Enix that demands the Director's Cut of AC be added heavily to so we can fluff out our AMVs!
For the record...and this was originally explained the comments section of the AMV before I slapped myself and cut the whole lot of down by half, while there was a lot of time spent on this AMV, it wasn't quality time. By which I mean that I can spend 20 to 30 hours on five seconds of footage with little or no effects and still have nothing decent. to show for it. A combined minute of this AMV probably took me over 100 hours, simply because I was banging my head against a cement wall the entire time, doing and redoing scenes that weren't working. That leaves about 60 hours for the rest of the AMV, aka three minutes, which for me is excellent. The graphics probably took me about six hours to initially put together, however each had to be redone for all sorts of reasons at least 5+ times.
So I guess, for anyone thinking "omg, I could never spend 200 hours on an AMV" don't worry, you probably never will have to. I've decided I'm a fairly incompetent editor because otherwise it wouldn't take me so long. My motto is "If I just keep working on it long it enough, it HAS to cooperate."
