Please observe the following unique rules for this forum:
- Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
- Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
- When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
- Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

It felt too flashy, but who am I to speak?
Just like the people above have said, your editing style didn't really for the video. If it was a different kind of a combination, then maybe it would have felt more appropriate. I see what you were trying to do though and I don't mind oversync. It's just that there are different ways to sync to every beat. Using fade-outs throughout was not the best option in this case. But, you have a nice sense of flow and beat sync. It's just the technique that went to a wrong direction..
But, I wasn't as much distracted with the flashing as I was with the clip selection. It didn't make much sense. I haven't seen the anime but I've been told it's really random, but it's no excuse. I'm 100% positive it is very possible to edit a FLCL video that makes sense I have no idea what was going on in your video O.o But it's all relative anyways..
It was fun to watch nevertheless, once you got used to the flashing
3/5

Ha, Does Anthony know about his tribute video?
Here is the original for reference: http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... hp?v=91484
The video itself seemed to me like a pointless copy that didn't better the first. I'm in no way mocking the video I just feel in the transition it lost everything that made it a good video.

AMA here. I am the editor of the original "Nostalgic for Yesterday". A friend mailed me a link to my "tribute?" Thought I'd weigh in on this.
Wow, I don't whether to be flattered because I'm being imitated or angered by the lack of originality via the reusing of MY idea. "Originality" has always been one of my hot buttons, in example: the overuse of Linkin Park's music or DragonballZ's footage.
This is, however, a recreation of my work. My work, which is if not in all regards than in some "original". I believe at the time of it's creation NFY was the first AMV to use the song, "Thanks A Lot" by Third Eye Blind. This so called "rip" plays to my ego and yet reawakens my hatered of unoriginal ideas. Mixed feelings. Either way, you recieved more attention than I did, albeit a bit negative.
The only outrage I can really muster at the moment is: Wtf are "rips"?! Can we not come up with our own shit now?! This place just gets worse and worse! And as long as I'm fake-mad @ExSphere I did win a forum contest with NFY, and I remember someone asking to put it on youTub, so the video was "found". What was lost, I believe, was the ability to create something new. Gawd damn it people. It's called "thinking" and it isn't difficult!
Taking things less seriously for a moment, If you've done it for your own amusement just out of love for the original I can't say I condone it, but it's not the worst thing someone could do in regards to my AMVs. Next time, could you at least ask or something?

Eh, don't think I found this on youtube, I got a new name now but you know me as "vegeta119", just did this video as I always loved the original and have had the idea in my head aswell even before seeing yours. I called it a rip and mentioned you simply because you did it first, but like I said, mostly just did this for my own amusement, sorry if it offended ya'AngryManAnime wrote:AMA here.
