What anime would make a decent live action film???

Okay, I've seen the threads about the live action Hollywood remakes for Speed Racer, Akira, and DBZ. I've read a lot of the responses and criticisms toward these projects, and I just thought I'd ask the question for spits and giggles:

What anime do you think would ACTUALLY make a decent (if not surprisingly good) live action film or film franchise? AND ON TOP OF THAT, what FILMMAKER do you think would be the ideal choice for said project?

I dare say I am not sure I'd want to risk any of my anime favs to the not so skilled hands of Hollywood.

But if they retained the nudity, I think watching Ranma live action would be funny.
The goofy as hell martial arts stuff would be a scream to simulate. Just so long as they did it intentionally silly like Sailormoom Live Action. If the martial arts was done serious it would ruin the film.

Urursei Yasura also would be funny to recreate.

I don't think a good swath of the school based dramas that make fun anime, would really be all that special live action though. What makes anime fun, is you can so easily make people look so over the top arch type so readily.

I'm sure a lot of mech heavy stuff could be done thanks to CGI. FMP would be fun.
Not so sure the sword and sorcery stuff would be as interesting. They'd likely want it to look too much like Dungeons and Dragons (barf).

I think some of the controversial stuff like Evangelion would be neat. Again CGI to the rescue.

Not sure how expensive any of the space based stuff would be. But, it would be competing with stiff competition from scifi that was never anime originally. Stuff like SG1 or Battlestar Galactica currently owns scifi.

They announced a live-action Eva movie (made in Japan) a while ago, but I haven't heard about progress since they announced it.

Key: The Metal Idol. Probably not a feature lenght movie, more likely a mini-series on one of the premium networks like Showtime.
