You actually use space on your entertainment stand for a vcr?

You do realize you can get machines that can do that digitally eh?

I still have my VHS player and some tapes but I only watch them when my DVD player is on the fritz.
Only time I say no is if someone asks if I've had enough.

Well I have some stuff on VHS which was never even released on DVD, so yes I will keep them! And I have quite a lot actually.
The bad thing is that I don't have a VHS player anymore since I moved out from home (I haven't my VHS tapes with me either), but I wanna buy one asap :)

Well considering what we willing pay for anime on dvd you might want to check out a vhs to dvd capable machine. They can be a bit pricy, but no more expensive than some anime.

The trick is to make it known you have one, and will make dvds of vhs tapes of locals or family or friends. Do that for say 1-2 bucks a tape and in short order your purchase is paid off :)

You could likely do that while staying at a con :)

Heck I sure wish I had had one when I started to feel a need to convert over to dvd.

A buddy of mine took the cretin approach though, he "rented" a machine from a Staples or some such store with a good return policy. Used it to convert a lot of tapes, then returned the machine :)

I actually own more anime on VHS than on DVD. And I actually watch them every now and then. o.O
Am I the only one with two working VHS players? :?
Still, this is mostly 'cause here in Italy things are still kinda slow... Anime are getting only DVD release since... 2 years ago at most, I think.
Well, there's a good thing though: now I can find a lot of VHS of good anime at less than 5 € and they're not bootleg.
But yeah, now I tend to mainly buy DVDs (VHS only if I find cheap stuff like I already said). :)

For no adequate reason I have all of NGE on VHS (dub, of course).
