I hemmed and hawed over this for a little while myself. At first I wanted to showcase a variety of situations, making it look like Tifa, Cloud and R&R all had their own little "cases" and victories before ganging up on Bahamut. I fairly quickly decided against this, though, because squeezing comedy out of Advent Children is like squeezing juice out of a withered orange. Something wet and sticky might come out, but you have to add a lot of water to it to make it juice-like. Or in this case, add funny sauce. Starting with an orange that at least has some decent juice left makes much more sense (at least to me).ScorpionP wrote:This was pretty damn fun, I never thought something like this could be pulled off this well with FFAC. The only thing that kinda bothered me was that you used the same sequence from the show for the majority of the video...
With this analogy in mind, I attacked 'Bustin from the angle of trying to exploit what little humor it has which doesn't take in-depth knowledge of AC or FF7 to understand. The bulk of the no-brainer comedy in AC occurs in the downtown attack sequence. So, ok, thought I - that's what I have to make credible, I have to present the who, what, where, why, when and how of Cloud & Co. not only arriving in that situation, but them getting out of it. Dragging in footage from the rest of AC that has absolutely nothing to do with their presence downtown would have been dragging in footage from the rest of AC JUST to drag in other stuff. I only had about three minutes to get everyone on stage and start the Bahamut thrashing AND be funny. It was hard enough condensing this sequence from AC into that amount of time, trying to do it and bring in other footage was completely out of the question.
So, while I realize this is a pretty narrowly focused AMV that may appear to be ignoring the rest of Advent Children, this isn't meant to be a scattered, non-linear, disconnected AMV that just takes pot shots at potentially funny AC scenes anyways. It's meant to take a very specific portion of AC and give it a fresh interpretation that's not only believable, but coherent and amusing. Also, the downtown attack sequence is fairly short, in the grand scheme of things. No matter what I did, it was going to end up looking like I "just" strung the whole event together.
It's also true that I personally don't enjoy random, scattered AMVs as much as ones with a really tight focus on characters and story, so it's not really surprising that my AMV track record thus far reflects this preference. There's some future projects I have in mind which should promote more breathing room (plus they offer me more than an hour and a half of footage to pick and choose my clips from!!)

I liked the use of the news magazines, never saw that before.
The intro was great, but i *kinda* got bored at the end of it.
Probaly part of myself to blame since the song got kinda repetitive for me aswell.
never the less never saw a FF video like this, and the way you made the concept, and executed it...aweome.
