Windows Movie Maker?! It's being weird. Someone help?

Well, For the past 3 days, Windows Movie Maker has been a really big pain in my butt.

I go to start making a movie, right?
I clicked ONE Thing, it jams right up, and this pops up.

Then closes automatically.
I can't make AMVs anymore, it closes when I click ANYTHING.

Can someone help?

It's a direct result of buggy software and / or "Doing it wrong" (TM). Do you use lossy footage in WMM? Compressed audio?

perhamps you haven't installed the right video codec...

You know what they say, the technology is only as bad as the person using it, but then again, it does fuck up. I'd uninstall it and re-install it, just to be sure. Or it's just your computer fucking up, you never know.

My basic approach uses solely the following:
[no more no less ...ie. uninstall any garbage on your computer.]

The only things you'll need:
-have the AMVapp installed
-install the CCCP
-use the 'stand-alone' VLC Player for playback [optional]

Video to use:
-only edit using big lossless .avi video sources; such as HUFFYUV.avi's
[but not Lagarith.avi's for WMM users. The necessary codecs come with the app]
--->your video sources can be created using VirtualDub [vdub comes with the app]

Audio to use:
-only use big lossless .wav audio sources in your editor
--->these can be created using Audacity [usually]

-read this guide
-watch some good AMV's to avoid adding more crap to the heap.

if all the above is met... there aren't many reasons for errors.

...I should also note that when making your video sources, disable the audio stream [under Streams>Stream list]... otherwise you'll be creating a source with good video, but it will be packaged along with an audio type... probably mp3... that could give you trouble.

That same thing is happening to me too, but not immediately. And it only happens when I import songs then drag them to the bottom. Once it's there, that stupid error message pops up. It's annoying. D;
