converting .vob to something my video editor can use

I've been looking around for a way to convert the vob files to mpeg or something so i can use them for amvs, all i can find are ones that either do a crappy job or cost some money. Does anyone know of a way to convert dvd video directly to a common video type that doesn't cost any money? orany suggestions at all on how to do this.

Yeah this awesome guide will provide you with the AMVApp every necessary small program codec and what´s more important: the knowledge.

Read threw it, work with it and soon you´ll know all the technical stuff and will only need the guide for details.

It´s worth it to get out the maximum quality of your dvds.
