Trigun is definitely one of the most moving anime out there. It's also a very fun anime. It makes a strong case for pacifism. If you wanna see how moving anime can get, Trigun is a good one.
I personally found FLCL to be one of the most moving anime out there. Some people say it's crazy, insane, weird, which is true to an extent. But in its heart, it's a beautiful coming-of-age story, which I found to be incredibly moving. The kiss scene in episode 6 (the last episode) is one of the most moving scenes in anime.
Oh, and don't watch Love Hina if you want something moving. It's purely a fanservice and comedy anime that tries to pretend to be a romance story. You might be able to call it romance, but that would be calling an anime that in 25 episodes goes from "hi" to "I sort of might like you, but I won't tell" a romance anime. It doesn't have good comedy, either.

By far the most moving experience I've ever had from anime was Magnetic Rose, from the Memories collection. You might have trouble finding it, and not everyone is going to like how it ends up kinda open-ended, but I would say that it's the best anime I've ever seen.
Aside from the it's hard to go wrong with Berserk. If you can identify with soldier/warrior characters at all then you'll love it. I'm not sure how much has been released domestically thus far, so it might not have gotten to the really good parts yet.

When I become an Evil Overlord my Legions of Terror will be an equal-opportunity employer. Conversely, when it is prophesied that no man can defeat me, I will keep in mind the increasing number of non-traditional gender roles.

Mexican-Grave of the fireflys is funny!!!! Nah it was ok
Psyko -I dont know what love hina you were watching. I found it very funny and thougn not very moving the second episode about Shinobu was as was the one with the wooden doll.
hmm I agree with everyone about Now and then here and there. this is a great anime. But what about slayers it's goofball alot but it has very touching moments in it like when Hellmaster is killng everyone. Arc the lad has a very sad moment in it too I'm not spoiling that for anyone you have to see it. And of course Urusei yatsura lots of moving moments in that one.

Well, perhaps there were certain moving parts in Love Hina. The wooden doll ep was certainly moving, although episode 2 seemed like just a vehicle to add another character to the cast. The fact that Shinobu's character is completely unbelievably unrealistically shy kinda takes away from that episode. In terms of comedy, Naru-hitting-Keitarou gets unfunny after about the 5th time. It gets dull, stupid, and insulting by the 10th time. I say insulting because by putting such a scene into the anime means that the makers are assuming that my intelligence level is low enough to actually enjoy it after watching it that many times. But they insist on putting such scenes at least 3 times per episode. I'm sick of "oh, that's so violent; oh that's so silly; oh that's so crazy; oh that's so cute" comedy. I want some good original comedy or at least one that's intelligent. Love Hina fails in all aspects of that.Mroni wrote:Mexican-Grave of the fireflys is funny!!!! Nah it was ok
