Help with converting

Post by narutokunobessed » Mon Apr 07, 2008 5:50 pm

I am using Windows movie maker, but fanime doesn't accept .wmv. I could save as DV_AVI, but then what do I do. Please help. I do have a converter to, and its called Apex Video converter. I kind of know how to use it but I am not sure which codec to use. And if it also helps heres the requirements they want:

We would prefer that your file arrives as either a MPEG or AVI. If you choose to select a format that is different from the two listed please send us an email at fmv@fanime.com to confirm that it will work with our system. If you are still unsure about your options, simply export your files in its native format and we'll take it from there. Please when exporting your files stay within official resolutions (horizontal of 720, 704, 640, 352 and vertical of 480, 240 for NTSC and 576,288 for PAL), and with stereo or mono audio. As nice as 5.1 surround is we still are unable to acquire a satisfactory sound system able to handle seamless playback of 5.1 (AC3, DTS, and MPEG-2 Audio)

I am just confuse what is NTSC and Pal is. If I could figure out what that just is, Ill be fine. Please and thank you. :D

DVAVI is an AVI format, if thats what they want you should probably send them that

The difference between ntsc and pal are region coding, framerate and frame size... from what it sounds like they are just trying to open up more options for over seas entrants so that they don't limit to ntsc only...

They say that you can do either one.

XD, they also ask for mpeg-2 audio. In my video, The audio is an mp3. Does that mean that I have to convert my audio to mpeg-2 and reimport to windows movie maker.

uncompressed audio would probably be better if you have an avi container,

the mpeg2 audio would be only if you are using an mpeg2 video container as well..

and as for the con getting your video: mailing a DVD will take time, however uploading to their server might be faster... i guess it depends on weather or not you trust the mail system

Oh one more thing, should I compress it into a winzip or rar file. Because the only way I can send it online is by yousendit and I can only send in 100MB or pay 2.99 for more storage. The file when I save it is like 1000MB.
