What do you consider a "turn-off"?

Post by XiaoMovieMaker » Sun Apr 13, 2008 6:22 pm

Hey everyone~Xiao is back!

I wonder if anybody remembers me from a while back...bleah...anyway, back on topic.

I think I might have seen a thread or two floating around about this, but I wanted an "up to date" response along with some new information~ [Think of this almost like a bump]

So, I was curious as to what you people, the general public, think of as a "turn off" in AMVs. Basically, anything that will tick you off and say an AMV is bad.
[ex: "I hate it when AMVs have subtitles from the show]

Now I'm not being critical or anything, but some people will say "AN AMV WITH NARUTO AND DRAGON BALL Z WITH LINKIN PARK IS STUPID"...and I'm sure many of us have heard this, but there's always those few exceptions that blow our minds~

I'm pretty sure you all get what I'm saying here~

Rawr, so what do you guys think? I want to stay away from any 'mess ups' as I start working on my 2nd AMV! [Yea...only my 2nd...Middle School is a killer -.-]

Thanks again, and keep this thread flame free! [Remember, this is opinion based]
~Xiao~

P.S. If this thread is unnecessary or should be moved, I apologize in advance~

I'd say "lack of an overall cohesive element" (theme, plot, story, etc.) - though I'm not even going to get to that point in a review if there are glaring technical problems (video quality, absent timing, lip flap, subs, etc.) that make me close my player and delete the file first.

It pisses me off when AMVs suck.

uncreativity =|

People seem to be stuck in a thredmill or something these days. Grabbing other people's idea's and trying to rehash it over and over again. So that along with the fact that people can't seem to come up with anything fresh just turns me off.

Rawr...

@Bashar : I messed up the AR on my first AMV...thanks for reminding me of my technical error -.-

@Zarxrax : How blunt~

@Niotex : To an extent creativity can last so long...but you do have a point. I guess I better think of something special for my next amv :?

If I simply cannot get behind a song or source, usually I just end up not caring for the video. That's not always the case. There've been times when somebody makes an incredible video to a song I just don't care for and it ends up making me appreciate the song much more.

As far as sources go, I don't know what it is but I simply can never get into Hellsing or Appleseed (the 2004 CG film, not the original OVA or Ex Machina) videos... :\
