Well apparently beta discussions once a month aren't going to work if no one shows up for them.
The only reason i did these is because people in the project wanted it, and if the people in the project who wanted it dont come, i dont see the point of taking my time to organize it. Shame because i thought it was a neat idea to get people in the project together, not only to discuss betas and trade ideas, but get to know the other members in the project as well. I thought that having it once a month would be a good idea because everyone would know about it ahead of time and itd be easy to clear your schedule to make sure you can attend. Despite that, its not going to work because pretty much no one wants to play their part.
If you tell me way ahead of time you can't make it because of a previous engagement, no big deal. Not telling me, or telling me last-minute, or refusing to come because you're anti-social or just dont want to come, isn't. Really just saying your opinion on someones track is fine, you dont have to get deeply involved in the conversation. Heck, even just showing up shows that you at least care about the project. Well apparently people aren't taking these discussions seriously, and people are starting to think im taking this whole project too seriously.
Listen the whole generic mep thing has been done to death. Someone starts a project, gets people to join, they do their own thing with their tracks, send it in, and poof mep. Because of lack of communication and/or feedback, these meps tend to be unsuccessful. I wanted to run this project differently, because this is a multi-editor project people. If you're a part of the project, you dont just do your "job", you contribute. Be a part of the project. Get to know other people in it. Suggest comments and ideas on how to make this project better. Your input on everything, not only track-wise, is valued. I'm struggling to run this project that way because a lot of people in this project refuse to be social or take part in anything. In my opinion, thats not a multi-editor project if the editors in the project are only focused on their tracks, not the mep in general.
Another thing, I just want to make this clear. We started this project back in august, therefore there is absolutely no reason for you to have not at least started your track yet! Technically, we should be DONE this project by now! Originally the first deadline was in February, then it was changed to April, now its been pushed to July. I've already got people asking for ANOTHER extension. Theres absolutely no excuse for that. The tracks are only 1 minute long and it should not take you over a year to edit that, especially when there are deadlines to consider.
Anyways, because of this i wont be holding another beta discussion. I'm not sure what i'll do to enforce member communication but i'll probably make a forum for beta critiques. Please guys, communication is key. At least get to know some people in this project. You're going to have to anyway, regarding transitions. By the way, July rolls around and i ask about your transition and you tell me you haven't talked to the member before or after you about it, my head will pop. I'd like you guys to think a bit about how you want your transitions to look as well, i dont want it to be the standard flash/crossfade fare.
So yeah.. now i need to find a site where i can make a free forum :\

just fyi i told chii through PM that I could make it to the discussion if it was moved later into the day, but not to do it unless it was ok with everyone else.JaddziaDax wrote:perhaps you could have suggested a better day if it was so bad >:[
So i figured it was a no go.
As for transitions...
I've only worked on one mep before so I dont have much experience for transitioning but I found that continuous transitions were really neat if they were possible. like part of the ending clip is masked showing the next clip through a TV monitor or something which is zoomed to and starts that track.

If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to public liberty. What country can preserve its liberties, if it's rulers are not warned [...] that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants."-Thomas Jefferson

I totaly agree that people should tell if they can't come, if they don't its probably cus they aint caring that much!
I also agree on that this is a mep that have been up for almost a year, and 1 min shoulden't take that long!
Il try to have this project as my priorety nr 1 editing wise until i have it more or less done!
But as my new work takes allot of time and so on, the time to edit is not that much, but il do my best and try start edit with this as soon as possible!
