Classic AMVs Weekly #5 - May 11th, 2008

For those who have seen it, this video needs no introduction.

Studio Hybrid - Jinnai and the Bugrom LIVE!
Vintage: 2001
Anime: El Hazard
Music: Carumba - Hubba Hubba Zoot Zoot!

I am honestly not sure just how much this video gets passed around nowadays, but at least among my local friends here in St. Louis, this video was a necessity for lan parties, anime nights, and get-togethers. I think the most fun thing about this video is singing along with the song, honestly. I have had groups of over 20 people at Archon all singing along loudly with this one.

In any case, if you haven't seen this video, do yourself a favor and check it out. And if you haven't seen El Hazard, you really need to see it. (But hey, this isn't Classic Anime Weekly, just Classic AMVs Weekly :P )

I'm not sure where I got it, but I have a version of this with karaoke subtitles. It's quite amusing.

I still play it in the AMV rooms I run and people do enjoy it

I remember when it was first shown at AnimeExpo back in 2001.. Nic (the Creator) sat next to me and mentioned his video was not his usual and people would think WTF just prior to it being shown.. Ahh the good old days :D

I have had this video for a while and still enjoy it on occasion. One of the best early examples of lip synch. Plus, the song kicks ass!
"A creator needs only one enthusiast to justify him." - Man Ray
"Restrictions breed creativity." - Mark Rosewater

A Freudian slip is where you say one thing, but mean your mother.

Oh my, I remember when this video came out at AX as well. I've been a fan of Nic's work for so long. I remember mention of the karoke version that came out, but never got to see it.
