Why do you watch Anime?

I'm doing a sociology project and I need to find out why in "general" people like to watch anime. So I ask you this basic question, Why do you watch anime?

P.S. The reason why I ask you this, is because my opinion doesn't matter in this research paper.

For me the main thing is probably the story telling, I often find it so unique and captivating that sometimes LA couldn't compare.

Story is the main reason I watch anime, but it's important the style as well.

Story telling if its a serious anime, or because I laugh more at anime comedies more than I do cartoons. The artwork(read as 'fan service') also has a minor part in it.

I watch anime because I am a fan of animation as a storytelling medium and Japan is one of the most important investors in the art nowadays. The art style is interesting, the sense of humour is fun, and the stories are often excellent.
