It's the exact same fucking thing I saw a decade ago. I was hoping for something new and different within the eva universe. Kinda like how ep 25&26 and EoE take place at the same time but have totally different takes on the events. Instead this was nothing more than several episodes jammed into one movie. With a few quite obvious 'Hey look at this computer animation we busted out that doesn't even come close to blending in well with the animation!' parts. They showed some things in the movie that weren't shown until the end of the TV series but even so, that looks like just an attempt to make some plot points easier to understand than the original. It's not anything new really. I have the subtitled version but it isn't really needed, anyone who remembers the original can easily follow 99% of this movie without subs.
Overall it was fairly good. Nice quality and good production values. But by now unless they bust out some new stuff it's just flogging a dead horse. If you're an eva diehard fan or you never saw eva before then the movies are worth watching. If you're a casual fan or want to see something new, skip it.

but they started chaging a lot more stuff around
and I presume they are gonna put some drastic change
like 1) we see lilith in nerv terminal dogma but the mask and body are different
we however see lilith on the moon with Kaworu
so whats going on? maybe its adam
its to early to judge though but they are changing things up none the less, maybe to more of the manga story was written
