.3pg (help)

Post by 76 » Mon May 19, 2008 11:15 pm

Okay, I got a bunch of home-videos on my phone, and I bluetoothed them to my PC and I want to edit the videos.

Thing is, they are all in .3pg format and Sony and WMM do not support this format.

What can I do?

Eh...will Vdub/AviSynth take it? Like...maybe try DirectShowSource or something? I know .3GP usually contains MPEG-4 video, so that might work. It's kind of a shot in the dark though; worth a shot at least.

Hey, link to Avisynth? I had the bitch until I uninstalled it YESTER-FUCKING-DAY.

How ironic...I uninstalled it because I didn't have any use for it with my shitty comp...

Only place I know to get it is from the AMVapp. Since you probably don't want everything in it, you should be able to just tell it what to install. I guess that would be AviSynth and VirtualDubMod in this case.

And lawl at the irony. :P

I used this command and it said that it was not supported.

DirectShowSource("etc")

What commands could I used to strip it into an mp4?

Sorry this took me so long to respond to; I had to play around a bit to find a solution.

I couldn't find a way to make AviSynth/Vdub work, so I downloaded a program called "SUPER ©." I've known about it before, but this was the first time I used it. Good news is that it works; bad news is that's it's sort of unintuitive (only sort of, though).

This is the install file for the program. Unless it comes with a ReadMe file (I didn't check), the closest thing I could find to a guide for it is their FAQ. You may not need it, though.

At any rate, drag and drop the .3gp file into the program and set the output settings at the top of the program's GUI. Output container = AVI; Output codec = huffyYUV; Audio codec = (some sort of) PCM.
Change the other settings as you prefer.

That'll get you a lossless file that you can edit or whatever. If you aren't looking to edit, you can use something like DivX for the video codec and MP3 for the audio codec. It's lossy compression, but it's better for simple storage.

Sorry for the double post, but if something is unclear then feel free to keep asking questions. I know some of this can get confusing if you aren't used to it.
