Where's the article that says amvs are a waste of time and require no talent? I know someone posted that one before.

I edit and I don't enjoy it.
If you aren't really enjoying it, you probably should find something else you are more interested in or take a break from it.

Im one of the rare ones left that actually still enjoys editing.
Id be lying if I said that gathering and cutting my footage (especially if its a multi-anime video) is always fun.
but I always enjoy the actual editing progress.
I might be wierd but its always fun for me to see my ideals
comming together in the video editor.
Thats the whole reason I took up this hobby.

The only time editing is not fun for me is when
i put off something till near the deadline and then have to force
myself to finish in time.
I fear that this situation is coming soon >_<

Its nice that after all this time I can still say I just make what I want and enjoy doing it.
Ok, so let me explain, which I tried not to do in the interest of being unnaturally concise. There was never a point where this was fun for me, so taking a break or quitting isn't really appropriate. Making AMVs has been, overall, the kind of experience I'd wish on my worst enemy. In fact, it turned into something that I persisted at mostly because I refused to admit all the blood, sweat and tears were going to amount to nothing. No WAY I was going to let this "hobby" beat me...no way, no how (I'm horribly stubborn like that). Eventually I proved to myself that I COULD do something if I wanted it badly enough and worked at it long enough, but it wasn't pretty.

I personally enjoy prepping for projects more than I enjoy the editing. Always have. I love having grand ideas, I love gathering all the pieces parts to put those ideas in motion...I hate finding out that I don't have what it takes to make that motion happen. This doesn't just apply to making AMVs, it applies to just about anything I do.

Fortunately, what drives me to make an AMV is the knowledge that my ideas will never be anything more than that unless I personally take action. And I've always been a slave to my ideas - of which I have many, of which I don't feel right pondering unless I am going to do something about them. So my AMV-making "am I having fun" equation is fairly simple: if I succeed in transforming my idea into reality, then I've done what I wanted to do/I'm happy. That's the payoff, that's what I enjoy - not the steps it took to get there. A lot of things are like that...you might not enjoy the process, but it's what you accomplish overall that makes all the hard work worthwhile.

Yeah, I think sometimes too much emphasis is placed on the technical than the enjoyment factor or the actual editing. Yeah, there's too much of people trying to "keep up with the Jones'" as well as people expecting others to keep up. But eh, those who do do this purely for fun just ignore all that anyway. (I know I'm trying more and more to. :P) So yeah. Stuff. *^_^*
omg <_<

Best explanation ever. Strombolis are amazing <3

I'll echo that, though a little less on the hating.
