Ok there has been quite some speculation as to weather I'm even capable of doing a good job on the Music Video Contest. Allot of people are even going so far as to say that they would like Scott Anime back. I would like to put this before you, do you think that when Scott did his first second or even third contest that they were a spectacle to behold. "Well maybe they were it was before my time" But with every show he didn’t he get better, and don’t think he had years that he didn’t get things right or computers crashed.

I'm not going to request that you bare with me while I work on things. This is a request I simply don't deserve. I realize that I have only been doing the bare Minimum and even doing a bad job at that.

So I'm Still Going to stay as the Head of AMV's Step Down as the head of Stage Zero and Move to second. And I’m going to spring clean my staff from people who don't do a damn thing to "and I’m very Proud to say this" Rob Miles. We have, even before Fanime Con 08 Started have been working on next year.

AMV's were a huge draw once. Like a mythical creature that you could only see on the big screen only once every now and then. But like most mythical creatures it's slowly fading away and has lost it's status as a CON staple. Well this coming year Rob Miles and I are Going to put AMV's back in the Spot Light right were it belongs. I Can’t give away to much as I still Need to talk a few companies but next year I suggest you find your best Suit and Tie or the Best dress you own You Might need it *wink, wink.

Thank you all for giving me your hard an honest opinion of how I’m doing. If I don't hear from you the AMV community then how will I learn?

I don't think anyone here on this thread has gone as far as saying outright that they want Scott Anime back. It does take time and effort to get a solid contest down right.

I for one am glad to hear that you've taken our thoughts into consideration. That's all we ask. Issues cannot be resolved if you don't know what went wrong.

I personally don't think AMV's are fading in popularity. It's just that there are more and more things to do at Fanime. With such versitility in events, fans need more options than one BIG event. I really think we ran into schedule issues. Last year the rooms were packed! I believe that was because people could choose a showing that fit best with their other events. Making the Contest more accessible and available was the best move ever.

It did seem unusual to me that the contest was at noon.

Thank you for understanding my criticisms and concerns, as well as those of others who have posted or spoken with you. I am glad that you recognize that there were problems and it seems like you are learning from the mistakes that were made this year. I could not ask for more than that. You seem to be taking the planning for next year seriously and i look forward to going to the contest next year because of that. Good luck with setting up everything for 2009 and I hope I have the chance to meet you next year.
This is how I see things:
A bad AMV makes it look easy
A good AMV makes it look fun
A great AMV makes it look hard
However, the best AMVs make it look impossible

I disagree that AMV contests are fading away. At every con I go to, it's usually the second most-attended event. What I have seen is more and more cons having concerts by JPop artists, which brings a completely different type of fan that is uninterested in the rest of the con, particularly AMV's.

While I was only able to attend one of the screenings from last year's contest, I would be interested in comparing total attendance last year to this year. I do agree that the contest was not well-attended, but as a department head, you have to be familiar with the concept of attendees being used to how things were done last year. I'm sure there were a lot of people who came to the con assuming that there would be multiple screenings, at least one a day, and planned their weekend accordingly, only to find that there was only one chance to see the videos and vote.

All that being said, I was fortunate enough to hear Rob's ideas for the AMV contest for next year, and since you wish to keep it under wraps, all I will say is that I am salivating! I am already planning on coming back next year for the full four days! AMV creators are going to love it, so we should all hang in there! Even if you guys only accomplish a fraction of what you want for next year's contest, it could very well make Fanime THE west coast con for AMV creators.

You just brought a smile to my Face, I'm ready to give AMV's my full attention. And with ROB Miles as my right hand man, well damn it we just can't lose. Thank you all for your support during this transition as i try to find my way in the Vast ocean that is AMV Contest's.
