Allot of people are even going so far as to say that they would like Scott Anime back. I would like to put this before you, do you think that when Scott did his first second or even third contest that they were a spectacle to behold. "Well maybe they were it was before my time" But with every show he didn’t he get better, and don’t think he had years that he didn’t get things right or computers crashed.

I'm not going to request that you bare with me while I work on things. This is a request I simply don't deserve. I realize that I have only been doing the bare Minimum and even doing a bad job at that.

So I'm Still Going to stay as the Head of AMV's Step Down as the head of Stage Zero and Move to second. And I’m going to spring clean my staff from people who don't do a damn thing to "and I’m very Proud to say this" Rob Miles. We have, even before Fanime Con 08 Started have been working on next year.

AMV's were a huge draw once. Like a mythical creature that you could only see on the big screen only once every now and then. But like most mythical creatures it's slowly fading away and has lost it's status as a CON staple. Well this coming year Rob Miles and I are Going to put AMV's back in the Spot Light right were it belongs. I Can’t give away to much as I still Need to talk a few companies but next year I suggest you find your best Suit and Tie or the Best dress you own You Might need it *wink, wink.

Thank you all for giving me your hard an honest opinion of how I’m doing. If I don't hear from you the AMV community then how will I learn?

IF it helps, I personally thought you did a excellent job.
i dun care about he nitty gritty details, but honestly, I enjoyed the show IMMENSELY, and that alone is enough to merit a job well done.

The competition was good, and over all the Event was enjoyable.

For your 2nd time, that is already very good.
Maybe certain things could've been better, but for the most part, in the things that mattered, you got it right.

I for one am glad to hear that you've taken our thoughts into consideration. That's all we ask. Issues cannot be resolved if you don't know what went wrong.

I personally don't think AMV's are fading in popularity. It's just that there are more and more things to do at Fanime. With such versitility in events, fans need more options than one BIG event. I really think we ran into schedule issues. Last year the rooms were packed! I believe that was because people could choose a showing that fit best with their other events. Making the Contest more accessible and available was the best move ever.
I actually dont like how the AMVs were shown across all the days.
It allowed room for mis voting and inaccurate results.
A group of friends could come back each day watch it, vote for the same video and leave.
For the accuracy of the contest and the whole point of having "a contest" it needs to be one viewing, one voting period.

Unless somehow Fanime Staff can find a way to create voting ballots that will only count for one attendee each.

The scheduling of the AMV contest this year was An Cafe's fault.
And sadly, An Cafe, being the way more popular event, was put in the better time slot.
If only FanimeCon was 7 days long eh?
Can't have all the events at all the best times...

The way they've done it at the cons I've attended has been to put one ballot in every info bag, so every attendee gets one even if s/he doesn't end up watching the contest.

With the ballot per person, you also need to write your 'badge number' on the ballot, that stops people from voting multiple times or taking thier friend's ballot.

I would combine both concepts. Ballots in people's bags get lost. Leaving a blank space for someone to fill in a badge number still allows for someone to whip up a couple of phony badge numbers.

But if registration gave to an attendee along with their badge an AMV ballot with their badge number pre-printed on it, and only ballots with pre-printed badge numbers would be counted, that makes it much more difficult for ballot-stuffers.

Ballots with pre-printed numbers is crazy, and putting them in the proper bag would be crazy like. Just having them enter their badge number is enough. Sure you may have people try and cheat and put fake badge numbers down but this limits that from happening.

Good points above so I won't re hash them. But what I will add is that if people really want to cheat they will. Even if their is one showing, the ballots aren't watched that closely, it wouldn't be unimaginable for someone to play the system.

You might think that they really couldn't do that much damage...well that depends on the audience turnout. The smaller the audience, the more each vote counts. Along the same lines, a group of friends abusing the multiple voting times senario will have a smaller percentage impact overall depending on how large the crowds are.

I do think blank ballets put in the reg bags is a good idea. Having a badge number for each, though time consuming to check, is a safer system than anything we've had in past years.
