Probably a dumb Sony Vegas question
Thanks in advance for any help.
I'm using an old copy of Sony Vegas, 5.0, and I'm trying to figure out how I would make a certain video effect. My idea is to have 4 boxes, one in each corner of the screen that would each cover about 10% of the screen. The rest of the screen would be a different clip from whatever is in the boxes. I don't have any other programs for editing other than Vegas, so if this can't be done using Vegas it's no big deal, I can work around it. I'm just kinda hoping someone might have an idea I could try out.
Thanks again.

actually pan/crop will work better than track motion because they might want to just move the clips around and not the whole track.
all you need is 5 layers one for each box, use the pan/crop to place them where you want them:
and if you want to add borders to the boxes use the cookie cutter on each clip, and adjust the settings till it looks how you want it.

If you want a single box to show many clips, you will need to apply the pan/crop to each one. Half a dozen isn't much; twenty or thirty gets to be a chore. Track motion is essentially just pan/crop for an entire track, meaning you only have to set it up once. Although you can still apply pan/crop over the track motion.

well if they are going to do the entire video or a good chunk of the video like that then yea track motion would be the easiest so would be using track FX, but if it's for a short segment of their video then pan/crop would be easier than having to "fix" the track farther down the road.TaranT wrote:If you want a single box to show many clips, you will need to apply the pan/crop to each one.
