DVD shgopping list
Ok this isn't a top 5 list, I don't want to know your top 5, I AM interested in hearing what you are "shopping" for though.
I just picked up Madlax. Why, because it was A a finite show that was B not dreadfully expensive and the story is indeed a good one.
Next I need to add Noir, also a good story (and meets the above conditions too).
I also think it is time I hunt down a few others I have always liked. not sure I will be lucky in finding them though as some are hardly recent.
I want BGC 2040 and Blue Gender as well I guess.

My present shopping list is mostly getting/waiting for box sets. I'm waiting for Tsubasa and XXXholic. I'll probably be getting Inuyasha's 5th seasonand the 2 Aquarian half season. That's the short list, and I'm sure that I could talk about all of the stuff that I should get, but those are the next things to be bought in my mind.

I just got the Madlax boxset as well, and it is very good. You should also definetly buy the Noir box. Things I'm currently interested in are:
1. Escaflowne- Anime Legends Box
2. Aqaurion -Box
3. Sailor Moon- Seasons 2, 4, and 5.
4. Evangelion Movies (Love the series but Haven't gotten to the movies yet).
5. Full Metal Panic: The Second Raid Box set.
Those are what I hope to add to my collection this year:)

Absolutely nothing. All my source is borrowed or won from cons as prizes (or resold after I bought it in the case of Bleach). Brutally honest enough?

I have to admit, I can't understand the people that buy the dvd just to use segments for amvs.ShatteredFlame wrote:Whatever the fuck anime I want to use for a full AMV or MEP segment =/
Besides the Death Note Volumes, I only buy anime DVD's for editing (kinda a waste of money too, since I never feel like watching anything but my Death Note DVD's >_O )
Admittedly a heretical comment, but if I only wanted the dvd for that limited a need, I'd shamelessly download the dvd, use it, and delete it.
I only plan to buy anime in dvd that has utterly proven it's worth to me in the watching category. I am starting with the more limited quantity sets out of recognition of my limited finances
Now if I were to have a few thousand fall into my lap, yeah I'm buying Ranma Sailormoon and Urusei Yatsura
But as I can already watch them unconventionally, I'm in no panic situation
I probably could have bought 3 sets this year at Anime North, but this was my first year I actually had spending money worth comment I wasn't really prepared to shop seriously
Next year, I am positive I will be shopping more effectively.

Mind telling me where you can resell your anime DVD's for a good price?BasharOfTheAges wrote:Absolutely nothing. All my source is borrowed or won from cons as prizes (or resold after I bought it in the case of Bleach). Brutally honest enough?
@Sukunai: It's for visual quality purposes. I only edit with DVD's when I can't find a good RAW MKV h264 source for the anime (Which is luckily become very easy nowadays), it is a waste of money though, with the American made movies I buy I at least watch them lots of times with anime I only watch my Death Note DVD's =(

Regarding reselling dvds.
The Anime North convention has 3 years under it's belt now running a flea market event (usually on the friday) for several hours.
It's an opportunity to unload anything anime manga related that is no longer wanted by the fan.
I have a friend that has made a good bit of cash going this route. It's simpler and easier than the eBay route, and immediate. The buyer can clearly see what they are getting too.
Regarding re watch value, hmm I actually find anime on average more re watchable than most movies I obtain. That's just preference though.
Admittedly not all anime is re watchable of course.
But I find most is.
You will hate this, but while I am greatly enjoying Death Note, I am likely to not re watch it when I complete it. Watching a friends dvds as he gets them.
Interesting story, but likely no fun re watching once I see the ending.

I edited my sales pitch out eventually. I was selling a bunch of R2s before they started selling here in the U.S.
