I should probably ask. When you write code into the script editor; do the changes instantly take place, or do you have to save the AVI file??

The avs file does not modify the original avi. You can either encode the avs into a new avi, or load the avs directly into whatever else.

Forget the last problem. I unistalled AMVapp and re-installed it. I must've have hurt the program in some way, because it works fine now.

What script can I use to de-interlace a movie??

Have a read.

It kinda depends on how your footage is interlaced, so read that page (and this page if you don't already know about the different types of interlacing).

The first link has script suggestions in it.

Not at all, Pwolf. A lot of R2s these days are perfect enough to make attempts at improving the video quality practically useless. I personally always do some light spatial and moderate temporal denoising though, even if it's just to improve compressibility.

It does amuse me that the only other person I know of that was crazy enough to fully edit an AMV in AviSynth doesn't use the program for actual filtering.
