Not at all, Pwolf. A lot of R2s these days are perfect enough to make attempts at improving the video quality practically useless. I personally always do some light spatial and moderate temporal denoising though, even if it's just to improve compressibility.
It does amuse me that the only other person I know of that was crazy enough to fully edit an AMV in AviSynth doesn't use the program for actual filtering.
