Whisper of the Beast

Post by Nejc » Mon Jun 09, 2008 8:53 am

Hi.

I have problem re - creating an effect that was used in the Whisper of the Beast.
The effect is the simple Bloom/Glow effect. But it's really not that simple, since I tryed many diffrent things and some plug - in's that didn't get me any where close to the Bloom effect that was used in the Whisper of the Beast video (and no, the standard glow effect isn't it).

Yes, I have already sent a PM to the makers, but since a month has passed, no response has been given.
So I come here today, to ask you if you have any idea of how to re - create this effect and be able to help me out.

Thanks in advance.

Picture please or I can´t say wich glow you mean.
(and no, the standard glow effect isn't it)
Wich one? The one from: Saphire, Frischluft, Sony Vegas, After Effects, Trapcode shine, Waker FX... ^^

Seriously. There is no standard glow. Just different glows that work and look in theire own way ;)
You can often say wich of the glows it is if you know the original picture.

Try playing with duplicated footage layers + levels + various blur effects + transfer modes.

You could do it in 2 layers in AE (it may not look exactly the same but close)

layer 1: Original footage with a glow/shine on it and a feathered(20-40 pix) circular mask that increases in size over time/frames

Layer 2: Original footage

Failing that, there's always track mattte or applying some light effects on an adjustment layer(maybe knoll light factory) right as the glow starts and then lowering in opacity as the glow spreads from layer 1.

meh anyway that's how I'd try and do it, I haven't actually done it for this specific effect myself... more with b & w track matte's to colour blooming *shrugs* but the principle is the same.
new banzors in the making :p
