I like the idea, but I believe it takes more than masking anime characters into live action to actually make it fit. But still, pretty enjoyable to watch.

I think Todd and I are one of the biggest Ippo fans and seeing a solid, old school feeling vid is timeless.

I'm not going to pick little details, just wanted to say I dig this vid a lot. Even of the song/anime combo not the most original, it works very fucking well, and you succeeded in creating a solid and believable atmosphere through-out the video.

The feeling I got while watching this for the first time, was a kinda nostalgic feeling I haven't had in a long time, while watching AMVs... I think it reminded me a lot of Believe... not going on a rant why so, but it was there.

Thank you for making the badassesst Ippo vid to date, will be watched many times in the future.

Cheers.

...and yeah if I´m honest: The hype surprises me.

Do I have to be a Rocky fan to like it? Well I never saw a Rocky movie so please screw me now.
no but you would probably have to be a rocky fan to get what he was doing. I will say that much

Thanks for having me aboard. It's nice to win one for the team :)

Thanks for the constructive comments everyone. It's really awesome and helpful to hear many different perspectives regarding the blending of the anime and live action.

I can't add anything that hasn't been said. This video rocked at ACen, and I was waiting eagerly for you to release it. Good to see not everyone at RDS is retired :P

considering many people posting on this thread weren't even born(or were still in their dipers) when the first rocky movie came out, I can't believe they are such fans... it's weird :p

I think that the footage from rocky I-III are extremely grainy and blurry (I'd forgotten Dolf Lungren used to look hot when he was on the 'roids, btw did you know he knocked stallone out cold during filming for trying to chat up his gf?) aaannd where was I? oh yeah it just didn't look right, I wasn't a fan of the masking for the Rocky footage at all it just looked too fake and the stoke/outline looked like it was cutting off body parts/muscle bulges, the running scenes (I lol'd at the training montage... all that was missing was the beach race with 'fat' rocky) worked mych better where you brough anime into LA and not the other way around.

I laughed at the old trainer scene tho, I was wondering while watching it why you didn't show him with rocky until I saw the old guy in the anime 8-)

I still prefered eye of the tiger to this song but meh.
My sister was watching it and didn't think the audio fit at all until I explained where it's from >.<;

Anyway it was a great idea, you pulled it off really well just certain bits need more work.
new banzors in the making :p

We'll miss your editing, Castor, but you picked a great video to retire with. :)

Been out of town and with shitty internets, so I finally get to comment :o

The video absolutely floored me at ACen. I didn't get to see it at the first showing since me and Jon missed the first half, but at the next showing I was there with several others who had also missed it, and I remember turning to Todd and just being "HAHA HOLY SHIT THAT WAS FUCKING AWESOME" And I think that's still the best way to describe it.

Not to get overly sentimental or analytical, but the video truly does work on multiple levels. On one level, it works as simply a great tribute video to both of these epic series. On another level, it's a great story video showing how one character influences and motivates another. But on one more level, and the one that hits me the hardest, is how it motivates the viewer. I can say that there are moments in the video that give me goosebumps and really make me want to go out and make something of myself. Maybe not take up boxing or what-have-you, but it's obviously a story of somebody who had a dream and he worked diligently and hard for it, and as funny or awkward as it may sound, your video brought that feeling to life in a profound way.

So yeah. I think this is by far your best video and probably the best video I've seen this year period. Bravo sir.
