I guess it might work... this is probably going to be an "other" mep as genre, so it would be interesting stuff... the problem would be making the dub fit in the mix, you should try to see if you can use a song as well... but we can always discuss about that and see what would work.

well if I actually end up doing it, which is still a big maybe, you could just have it fade it from a slower scene, since it'll pretty much be like hearing a weird conversation :O

I believe coming up with something that resembles a dream is more suitable.. I personally doubt almost any dreams anyone could have could really be made in an amv, with an anime and song. Anime is limiting and so are most of the songs/sounds someone could use, not to mention dreams usually have to do something with a reality you won't be able to capture in video (especially with those limiting anime sources) or even explain to people that have nothing to do with that reality.

Take nerdstrudel's idea for example, he was probably talking about weird stuff with his friends, interesting shit must have happened for him but a depiction of all this in an amv would really doubtfully look even decent, and even if he somehow "got it", we "wouldn't get it". I hope I'm making this more clear than I think I am making it, but yeah..

Better if no dubbing is involved actually, it's better to stick with the "classical" anime music videos for that, since it could be kind distracting for people that don't know enligsh really well. But if the dialogue is interesting you could try something like making it with baloons - kind of manga style, maybe. ;)

I disagree. You can actually retell your dream in an amv if you have creativity and skills. If you don't think you can do it, then that's you, but I know for a fact alot of people can dream something then turn it into an amv.

I seriously hope you're talking about amving.

Mmh, yeah, point made. Basically you say that translating dreams into amvs is almost impossible due to the limited nature of amvs... that's right, but it's an interesting experiment we should try. As hard and doubtfully possible to fullfill, I believe that the idea behind this mep can bring to a really unusual and different experience, that's why we should try it.

I'd like an anime that takes place in some big modern-age house where many huge dinosaurs are attacking and the characters are repelling them. No seriously, that's the last dream I had years ago, if there's a possibility it can be done I'd do it - but I don't usually have dreams, probably because of my general lack of sleep.

Yeah that's actually what I meant to say, sorry for not making that clear. It's all about limiting sources and limited things you can do with them..

Well either way good luck with the mep! I hope you get enough people with amv-able dreams to pull this off, though I still think decently amv-able dreams are a rare thing and should be pretty hard to depict. Though some hentai could make things easier for some people. \o/

Correction: You have dreams, you just don't REMEMBER them. :O

Oh, if your problem is just that, than it's not a real problem... I mean, when I said that it needs confidence with effects, masking was included... as long as you can use multi-anime, well, you actually can make the scene you want. :\
