combining segmented quicktime files.

Post by gypsy » Tue Jul 01, 2008 5:33 pm

Hi there.

I'm working on a music video for a South African band. The footage was shot in HD. It was captured on a Mac with a fat32 hdd. As such the files cant be larger than 2gb. The file were captured but final cut pro saved segmented the files @ the 2gb mark naming them filename & filename-av1.

I have now copied the segmented files, from that mac onto my PC which has NTFS file system hdd. The problem is that the files arenent recognized by any program on my computer as video files except for DGindex.

My question is, how an I combine this file that doesn't have an extension (I know its a quicktime file thought) into a file that can be played? I have worked with quicktimes files that was exported on a mac before and after renaming them to .mov it works fine but with this segmented files is just wont work?

thanx in advance.

Do you have Quicktime alternative?

Since quicktime uses its own codec, you originally must use an Apple codec to play quicktime media, but with this, you can play these files in any kind of player like a divx or such, since you have a directshow version of the codec.

With that, you should try using avisynth to put your footage together.

It is with this combo that I could put quicktime footage in VDub for preprocessing. I think it would be possible for you to do the same.
