If I remember correctly, the specific problem was the installer for the premiere avs import plugin. It does not specify a value for the setmemorymax file by default, and so if you don't fill one in, it causes the error to occur.

Makes sense, the only reason I thought the 4GB addresses might be the problem was because of others saying they were running Vista x64 without any problems.

I just felt like it needed some kind of follow up because (stupid me not actually reading this thread and going to the search to look) I couldn't find anything explaining how to fix this until I happened to notice that and I was beating my head against the desk trying to figure it out.

As of today I have plenty of time on my hands, so if you're interested in my help I'd be glad to update articles or script for AMVapp. Just tell me where help is needed most and I'll start working on it.

As an update to the failed tests at the end of the Vista (x64) installation, there seems to be something directly wrong with mplayer2 rather than what the tests are testing for.

Code: Select all

 Problem Event Name:	APPCRASH
  Application Name:	mplayer2.exe
  Application Version:	6.4.9.1125
  Application Timestamp:	3d45eb02
  Fault Module Name:	msdxm.ocx!RunDllW
  Fault Module Version:	6.0.6001.18000
  Fault Module Timestamp:	4791a783
  Exception Code:	c0000139
  Exception Offset:	0006ecfb
  OS Version:	6.0.6001.2.1.0.256.1
  Locale ID:	1033
  Additional Information 1:	9d13
  Additional Information 2:	1abee00edb3fc1158f9ad6f44f0f6be8
  Additional Information 3:	9d13
  Additional Information 4:	1abee00edb3fc1158f9ad6f44f0f6be8
That's the full error. Tbh, I wonder if it might not make more sense to try and check things with a different player, or at least add in that library it seems unable to find. Perhaps it was deemed obsolete? Or it could have siimply been moved to a different location as well...

Will the AMV app work in WinXP64 or Vista64? Adobe is going to be releasing Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 64bit on Sept. 23rd

the 3.0 beta release does indeed work on XP 64-bit. The only app that doesn't run is Zarx264gui. I can't speak for Vista 64.

I was hoping to have a new version out by now, but things have gotten really busy for me. With luck, a new one will definitely be out by the end of the year though.

I've posted up an updated version of Zarx264gui at http://zarxrax.kicks-ass.net/
This is a major update but is almost completely untested at this point, so I recommend you don't actually encode any AMVs with it at the moment. I would like people to test it out though and let me know of any problems with it, or suggestions for improvement. I forgot to update the tooltips on the buttons, so don't mention that :p
