The most obvious answer is, of course, not to edit at all.

I hear you can only make fan-service videos with Final Cut Pro, some sort of programing glitch.

I am a user of FCP and I love it. It was designed by the same person that designed the original Premiere, while a new team made the iteration of Premiere that we see today (which is quite a deal different from FCP). Also, FCP only runs on the Mac, so if you don't have one you can't really run it.

Like I always say, just download trials of the programs you want to compare. Then buy the one that's best for you.

On the topic of effects and whatnot, I'd worry about your cuts first and foremost. If you have bad edits, no matter how shiny the effects are, it's still going to be a bad video. However, effects can enhance a well cut video, and most programs (such as Vegas and FCP, even Final Cut Express) are expandable with all kinds of plugins.

I get tired of people suggesting that Vegas is not frame-accurate when it come to cutting. It's an OPTION, people. It's there because Vegas can also be used for audio mixing, for which you do not want to be locked down to frames.

The option is called "Quantize to frames" and it can be turned on and off at will. On locks the scrubber down to frames only and off allows you to move between frames.

I could have sworn I saw something about that in this thread. o.O
I guess it was another one; I gotta wake up before I start posting, apparently. >_>

Well, let's just say it was a preemptive strike, in that case, because I know I've seen that said multiple times before. <_<
Meanwhile, I'm going to go eat breakfast and wake up. Forgive me.
