Yep. The Olympics are all about warm fuzzy feeling relations of love between all the countries. :shock:

The chance to see 15 year old girls in tights jumping around and swimming without the FBI knocking on my door? Oh hell yes I'm there.

Actually the Woman's Badminton game between USA and Indonesia was pretty intense. Well, at least until the commercial breaks ended on the other channel I was watching.

I'm keeping an eye on the volleyball, swim, dive, and fencing events. Everything else is just whatever happens to be on TV.

THANK YOU.

I do admit, the Olympics is a bit overrated. But then again it is the olympics...imagine if the US were to cancel Independence Day because the rest of the world says the US is an evil and corrupt nation. Maybe universal sporting is not quite our cup of tea, but it is a tradition.

I can also concur with your viewpoint on protestors against the PROC government. When I was in Beijing last year, the Chinese were very enthusiastic with preparing for the Olympic events. Largely due to the fact that China is trying to adapt and modernize with the rest of the world. The Olympics you might say is a form of China's attempt at re-entering back into the world.

I've noticed that China is adapting more capitalists ideals than ever before. Especially with their policies of energy. While The US seems to be adapting more socialists ideals, especially with the liberal movement.

lol @ france

nbc is exceptionally horrendous this year though - phelps going for 8 golds is more important than the simple fact that the US relay team won? and in epic fashion? its all about individuals and records, not competition on TV. they need to give it to fox or something.

I only watched the opening to be honest. The sports don't interest me as much as the politics actually. That and I'm secretly hoping for some shit to go down. It's been a while since the western world has had a good and old school bitchslap. And with all the political bullshit going down it would be the perfect setting.

Is it true that the american network showing the Olympics DELAYED it so they could get more money for prime time commercials? 0-0;
