Bridging The Gap-The Transition MEP [Interest Gauge]

Post by TwilightChrono » Thu Aug 14, 2008 3:44 am

This MEP is headed by yours truly, TwilightChrono and OnyX DragoN

The over-all theme of this MEP is bridging the gap between different music
genres. Meaning, transitioning slowly from Techno to Metal, giving this video an over-all flow. The music in this MEP consists of everything from Techno to Alternative to Rock to Metal. I guess you could call this MEP, Bridging the Gap Between Different Cultures and Musical Styles. I just want to show how far we have come in music, and at the same time make this MEP enjoyable to all people who like different styles of music. Kind of a bringing people together kinda thing.

I like it.. Except the fact that for a lot of the tracks you chose some of the most well known music and songs...for that genre or category or whatever.. Would like just a bit of obscurity, but maybe that's me. Getting the mix now.

Also twilight, How many MEPs you gonna head? :O

Edit: Listening to this, I am at 3:54 and First of all, the transition from the 2nd to the 3rd track is horrible. Plus I don't really see your theme thus far. It went from like light techno with singing to some kinda.. I can't like find the right genere word, but then, back to paula abdul.. Which, listening to this does transition off of that genre at all.

Transition from 3 to 4 is horrible to. But that genre jump is a little better. Transition from lifelight to numb isn't bad, Could still use some fixing, but it's not bad. Plus, since Linkin park is USUALL rap/rock and NOT techno this genre jump is inappropriate. You should choose a song that is usually techno, not songs with techno remixes, and then transition off of them into maybe a rock/rap song that has some tech sounds or whatever. Transition from LP to usher is horrible to. I don't think there has been one good transition yet. Between usher and Celldweller the transition is bad to. Plus, honestly how much have we heard this song? Aren't you even using it in another of your MEPs?

Transition from Celldweller to MSI is.. Ok, but still not good, though the genre changes are starting to get kinda of a theme. Between 8 and 9 that transition is so sudden, and the only reason it sounded ok to me is because I've heard Shut me up MANY times and I knew there would be a beat there anyway.. Ok From 9 to 10 the transition is even bad... This is a transition between 2 songs from the same band who has songs that sound very similar and everything. I also don't really get why you crammed 2 of their songs into this project... Doesn't make sense. But Rammstein at the end ey? the genre changes just took a turn for the worse at the end here. It went from pussy metal to pussy industrial? how does that work?

Overall I think it needs a lot of reworking.

If this is really about bridging the gap between cultures and styles... why no country?

I love the idea of this, though yeah, some of the songs are a little too well known and there isn't much international music. Maybe if there were a lot of songs in different languages and with different styles it would work best. I'd be happy to suggest some music if you'd like. ^_^

There's no classical music.

T_T

Edit: expounding on that thought, how about reworking the mix completely to make it the evolution of music chronologicly. Working all the way from "classical" (romantic  ) to modern...whatever's most populer now.. >_>

Well, I originally started working on this MIX before my current MEP even came into being (Project Multi Shine)

Anyway, please, if anyone has any music they would like put into the mix, or songs that they would like to see replaced with a different song. Let me know. Hell, if you want, Let me know, if you want to help with the Mix.

Right now, we are doing a while new mix. So, if you have any songs you want in, let us know. We will try to work them in.

So far the list includes The Trans Siberia Orchestra, The Used, Native American Music, Some Hip-Hop, and Some Country. The mix should be done in a day or so. But, if you have any suggestions, let us know. If you have a song you would like to be in the mix, let us know, and we will try to fit it in.

I can supply you with good songs from the Hardcore, Punk, Ska, Ska/punk, and various metal eras when I get back home if you wish.
