Why not export to Lagarith?

Post by zajacattack » Thu Aug 14, 2008 2:57 pm

I plan to be making an AMV in Premiere Elements 4. When I get ready to export my video (as shown at http://www.animemusicvideos.org/guides/ ... xport.html), why should I only export in uncompressed or HuffYUV? Is there a particular reason not to use Lagarith?

I'm not sure about others, but when I've tried to export as Lagarith from Premiere Pro, it tends to glitch up horribly. Huffy and Uncompressed work fine for me though.

I answered a similar question about exports using Premiere Elements in this thread. Check that one out for a handy solution. :)

So, are you telling me to use Lagarith if I am going to use Premiere Elements?

i believe that premiere (in general) doesn't handle lagarith well, what they are trying to tell you is to use huffy or uncompressed if huffy doesn't work.

Most editing software doesn't handle compression well, thats why you use an external program to compress the files with.

I actually have less problems with using Lag than HuffYUV on my system (when exporting from both Premiere and AE)... but then I'm still using Premiere 6.5 and AE5.5.

I've always heard people recommend uncompressed either way O: and I'm just going off of what people have told me O.o

but what do I know, Premiere is a backwards program that hides all its features (I love my Vegas)

I've rarely ever used actual uncompressed... I've always used either HuffYUV (initially, and when I need alpha channel I still use it) or Lagarith. Uncompressed takes up stupid amounts of space that makes it impractical a lot of the time.
