Forum rules
Please observe the following unique rules for this forum:
  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

Why couldn't you have entered this in Pro so there would have been some non-crap vids?

Some parts of the vid seemed a bit... "unstable", for lack of a better word. But still, this is one of the best AMVs I've ever seen, even if you didn't put me in the credits with the other 200 people :(

I don't get it. This isn't the Otakon AMV Contest opening? o_o

EDIT: The new intro reeeeaaalllly helps. Basically up until this point I've always viewed the video as good from a technical standpoint but frankly just had no friggin clue what the concept was. So bravo.

I still think that from a technical side it's somewhat rough but it's still heads above the norm as far as this hobby is concerned. Now stop killing yourself for these videos.

And yes. Asobi Seksu for life. A couple of editors should really collab on a video to Red Sea.. I just don't know who they would be.

Congrats. :)

And now... trok time?

EDIT: Since you put so much effort into this video, I feel I should make a better effort to say something of more substance here...

What makes this video intriguing for me is the idea of Ayu as "the sacrificed one" who has to give herself up (and not without sadness) to achieve happiness for the other characters. Donno if this is what happened in the show (I only wiki'd it), but it comes through in your video, and from reading your extended notes it seems that you had this theme in mind. There's a sense of tragedy that goes deeper than what I'd expect from the typical anime adaption of a bishoujo game, and that's what makes this video interesting to me.

I don't care if the concept might be "pretentious" - what matters is that you cared about it enough to bring it into reality, and I can really appreciate the love that you put into making this happen.

EDIT 2: Just realized something. The fact that I didn't even think about the (no doubt tremendous) technical aspects of the video while writing the above says a lot about its success. There are plenty of effects-heavy videos out there that fail to connect with viewers despite how technically impressive they are. While it's impossible to watch this video without noticing all the crazy compositing, the video still does a good job of pulling you through the technical whirlwind into something beyond. That's something to be commended, I think.

HOLY SHIT! THIS IS A MUSICS VIDYO. YOU WANT STUFF TAHT MAKES SENTS? FORGET IT! WE AINT HAVIN IT. THIS IS THE REAL DEAL. THIS IS HOW AN EDITER WITH BALLS MAKES A VIDYO. BALLS THAT ARE ROUND. ROUND LIKE BOOBS.

FIRST I LIKE HOW YOU MAKE THE CAMERA MOVE ARUOND A LOT. NOT ENOUFH VIDYOS DO THAT. THEY LOOK AT ONE THING TOO LONG. YOU MAKE THE CAMERA JUMP INTO THINGS AND IT DOESNT EVEN SHAKE AS BAD AS MICHAEL BAY! 5/5 FOR CAMERA WORKS.

SECOND I LIKE HOW YOU MAKE PEOPLE BLUR. I KNOW THEY ARE CUTOUTS AND STUFF BUT YOU USE WHAT DANGEROUS DAN CALLS A FEATHER TOOL TO COVER IT. I DUNNO MUCH ABOUT IT BUT IT LOOKS COOL. 5/5 FOR NO FOCUS.

THIRD I LIKE HOW YOU MAKE EVERYTHING BRIGHT. 5/5 FOR MAKING IT LOOK PRO WITH GLOW.

FOURTH I LIKE HOW YOU USE JAPNESE MUSICS. TOO MANY PEEPLE MAKE THE MISTAKE OF THINKING ANIMES ARE AMERICANS. BUT WITH A NAME LIKE ASCOOBY SEXY NO ONE WILL THINK ITS DUMB AMERICANS MUSICS. I LIKE LOOKING DOWN MY SHOES WHILE HEARING THIS SONG. 5/5 FOR MUSIC.

LAST IM AMAZED HOW MANY PEEPLE YOU GOT TO WORK ON THIS VIDYO. THE CREDITS WERE VERY LONG AND IM GLAD EVERYONE COPERATED ON MAKING THIS MASTERPEECE. VERY GOOD WORKS EVERYONE! 5/5

OVERALL I GIVE IT 5/5 STARTS
