Ulead VideoStudio question

Post by Acerbitas » Mon Sep 01, 2008 1:44 am

Hey guys, I downloaded Ulead VideoStudio 11.5 Plus, the free trial, and now my trial is up and I think I like it enough to buy it. But I am a very poor college student, and I just want to make videos with some more exciting effects than WMM. ^^;; Version 9 is only like 6 bucks, 10 is like 15, and 11 plus is 30 dollars!! Is it worth it to get the most expensive one, do the old ones really suck? Thanks a lot!

$30 is nowhere close to expensive for this kind of thing. Go look at prices for Premiere, Vegas, and Final Cut. Then you shouldn't have a problem spending $30-$40.

And yea, I hear more good things about Magix than I do about Ulead. You might check it out, too. It has a free trial. And $45 is still way on the cheap end of NLEs.
... yea ...

I'm a Final Cut user and I recently downloaded the Vegas, Magix and Ulead trials on my PC. I found Ulead to be the best, actually. So my advice would be to download the Magix trial and see which one you like better.

The lack of edit button is a little annoying LOL.

What I meant by "best" was that It was most like Final Cut, and my overall point was that whichever one you like the BEST should be the on that you get.

All I have to say is that I purchased the Final Cut Studio suite a while back for when I went off to college. It cost me $1,300. No that isn't a typo, and keep in mind, that is not including the computer I am running it on. Granted, I'm not just using it for AMVs, but regardless, video editing is not cheap. Ultra-high-end Avid systems can run in the millions of dollars, for example. If you cannot shell out the little bit of money that it costs for consumer-grade editing systems like the one you just mentioned, then it is time to learn Windows Movie Maker inside and out.

Also, very rarely will you want to get an older version over a new one, so get the newest one that you can. There again, you should also do your research, and figure out what one works best for you. Whatever version you used, if it is comfortable for you then go ahead and buy it, though normally, the newer versions have more editing features.

Then again, I'm sure that's what everyone that switched from iMovie 6 to iMovie 08 thought, too.

older versions have the advantage of being cheaper and when it comes to programs like Vegas, as far as amvs are concerned, there isn't much of a difference.

In my opinion some old versions are way better than the new version for example magix movie edit pro 14. I just cant stand it. Too many bugs. So i reverted back to the previous 12, since it has all the functions as the new one does except it doesnt contain a colour background layout chooser (pointless really unless you want the program to look pretty), A button to directly upload to Youtube (im not lazy, so i dont need that), and it doesnt have as many bugs in it.
