Metal AMVs aren't really popular in general because otaku AMV fans are a bunch of slack jawed faggots who wouldn't know an ass kicking if it kicked them in the ass.

:!:
If you ask me, metal amvs are as appealing as mytube narutard amvs :)
But the question wasn't your opinion, the question was why as a whole does the AMV community not have a good assortment of metal videos in comparison to the shere number of poppy videos.

a.) Pop videos appeal to a larger mass of people. Typically as Beo pointed out the sheepish who only wear Oakleys and Abercrombie. Though there are some who sincerely like the pop-scene, however the vastest majority of the top 40 listeners just what to be parts of what ever is considered "in." And those that do sincerely enjoy the entire top 40 line up even admit that they are not picky.

b.) Metal videos tend to bear allot of violence and therefore get easily overshadowed as "simplistic" or otherwise mindless. However for a good metal video one must have keen ear for music and a good portion of talent.

c.) They require talent and care beyond that of looped beat with random lyrics.

There tons more reasons.
It's a good list of "why not's", and that's okay. Because each one that is released is unique. The rarity is what make's a good metal video great.

Well, at least it serves as a useful poll to see who supports Metal, and who <strike>hasn't experimented enough with Metal</strike> doesn't.

/my biased opinion this time

as for the discussion, most of the main reasons have been stated already: There's, a low metal fanbase within this hobby to begin with [comparatively]. The intensity of those type of amv's makes them all very similar, thus discouraging to make another. It actually does take a fair amount of skill to pull it off.

To put another idea forward, Success might be a factor. People don't want to waste their time on something that won't get as good a reception as if they made something else, so it's very tempting to 'just go with the flow.' Hopefully, this isn't the case.

Either way, I'm still going to make the occasional Metal AMV, though I like my metal a bit more thrashy, you might want to check out my Viscosity video. Also, check out some stuff by Warheart of you haven't already.

Heheheheheh

This also needs to be said.

Why would metal freaks desperate for early hearing loss want to indulge a hobby that is normally attributed to as you called them "slack jawed faggots who wouldn't know an ass kicking if it kicked them in the ass"?

Or is it possible, that among all those anal levels of sub sub sub sub genre metal, there are also slack jawed metal faggots who wouldn't know an ass kicking if it kicked them in the ass too?

If you ask me, metal amvs are as appealing as mytube narutard amvs :)
Your posts are long winded to inflate your weak opinions. :!:
Hmmm. Beo just summed up my entire thoughts about Sukunai in one sentence. Good job.

Condemning a group of people just for the reason that you don't appreciate something that they do is kind of retarded.

Don't talk down Sukunai.

He is a Real Canadian Hero, as my sig explains.

Because too many people retired...

Far too many.
The best effects are the ones you don't notice.
