While I appreciate a statement with such hyperbole, I think classical music like Beethoven, Bach, Brahms, etc have metal beat.

Hahahaha, good times were had while reading this thread. This whole discussion is like totally redundant.

Metal is (mostly) intelligent complex music, the majority of people are stupid, there you have it.
Or maybe this fits into the mostly flaming shit here: Peoples tastes are different and metalheads are all people who have problems with themselves just like emos. Or even better metalheads are too stupid to notice how much the music actually sucks. Come on you have to post more unnecessary waste. :D

I think we all just have to accept that metal IS the superior genre in music.

Yeah, that must be the fact.

...

Subjective preferance, what's that? O.o

I've been playing an instrument for 9 years, and my brother is a music theory major in collage, planing on going to grad school for a masters in musicology. I think I can safely say that metal is not the most complex music ever made. Though In the broad spectrum of Metal I can say that I generally enjoy Symphonic metal and somewhat power metal.

But seriously, Can someone actually say why metal is the most complex music ever? other then just saying it is?

Music is Music ... and seriously try listening to bands like Mayhem and tell me they are complex and I'll be fucking laughing my ass off. Seems like people don't really see the irony. Metal is just to hard for some to complex for some and others just have a different taste get over it. :-|

Whatchutalkin' bout Julian?

Beethoven Bach and Brahms ARE metal.

Toccata and Fugue in D was the first metal song.

And go Tube "Rage of the Skullgaffer". It'll come up as being by "Tyr". It's based very largely on the fugue's call and response format that you see in a LOT of Bach's work. That's because he mostly wrote fugues, though.

I'd say that particular forms of metal are the further evolution of classical music. Some Jazz is probably more musically complex than metal. They end up giving each other a run for each others money, particularly when you have jazz influenced heavy metal.

Augmented 13th chords for the win.

I like powermetal and melodic metal, but that´s pretty much it. I´m no fan of the pure screaming stuff.

Just accept different opinions...

Why are you discussing such nonsene? Don´t you know that industrial music owns you all? =P
