I own the R1 DVD's and from watching it on an HDTV, the worst noticeable thing I saw was noise and grain.

I haven't editted with it yet so I dont know specifically.

A short sample clip or a picture would be great to help identify problems.

I'm using v1.0 of removegrain btw

lines look like they could use a little darkening, and I'm in the habit of throwing limitedsharpenfaster() on the end of my scripts to make everything look crisp...your mileage may vary

if kariudo's script don't work for ya try these two:

Removegrain(mode=5)
fft3dfilter(bt=5,sigma=2.5,plane=4,bw=54,bh=54,ow=22,oh=22,dehalo=1,sharpen=0.3)

I can't make any other determinations without a sample video portion.

You can get fft3dfilter from:
http://avisynth.org.ru/fft3dfilter/fft3dfilter.html

You have to download the .dll all so listed on the page and put it in your system32 folder. The plugin is for avisynth2.5 or greater.

Note: I increased a few of the default parameters cause after looking at your pictures... I was right, the source is incoherently noisy and needs the increase if you ask me. Feel free to experiment with its many options yourself though.

Yeah, I've been in love with this anime since early 2007 and just had to make an AMV to it.

Thanks for the help. I'll post some filtered pics and a video portion later. If you have any more help. Feel free to let me know.
