Yeah, my days of the 'series' releases were my best. Now it's just... edit and hope people leave some opinion currency or three...

I still hope I can go further, possibly more in storytelling, flow, and concept while still having fun. If effects need to be part of that, then I'll work on those too.

What are your expectations of yourself and others compared to your past, present, and future works?
:nose:
Are those expectations justified or misplaced?

:nose:
Do they overwhelm you?

:nose:
And how do you think others perceive you and your work?
:nose:
How does that make you feel?

Who will be the next president?

I expect there'll be a couple dozen editors that'll keep me entertained whenever I get the hankering to watch a vid. I expect myself to have grand visions and fall short of them because I just get sick of working on them.
Are those expectations justified or misplaced?
I'd say they're perfectly justified, albeit a tad bit reflective for any real breakthrough.
Do they overwhelm you?
The expectations? They used to, until I got used to selling myself short so I didn't end up as disappointed in the end. I don't think it's right to feel overwhelmed when you're putting in less work than at least 5 other people... That said - I like to think i can push boundaries with new things.
And how do you think others perceive you and your work?
General fans, or forum-goers here? I've received hundreds of compliments, thousands of downloads, been asked multiple times for autographs, and gotten reviews/posts/etc of my work from at least 9 different countries. I think people here think of me as a forum lurker more than an editor though.
How does that make you feel?
The "fame" thing is weird (I use quotes because I feel kinda awkward and pompous using that word in this context). The reception here is fine - I wouldn't want to be name-dropped or have my dick sucked by every noob that walks through the door like some people have to put up with.

What are your expectations of yourself and others compared to your past, present, and future works?
The Word Play video comes to mind here.
The majority of my videos are centered around 2nd and 3rd century China. So just getting the story right with limited or no footage of said events is difficult. So I have to keep learning new ways to manipulate the footage to make it work. As far as editing and effects, I want to improve, but in the same sense go back to the older style I had, and not get caught up in the latest trends.

As far as others videos go, I enjoy a good amv. Certain editors, I expect a good video when I watch their work.

Are those expectations justified or misplaced?
I have a damn hard time not changing on every beat, but for the sake of story telling, it can be no other way.

As far as other editors go, I'm pretty easy to please.

Do they overwhelm you?
Other editors?
Not really, but then I'm watching their stuff as entertainment. Some of them impress the hell out me, but I wouldn't say overwhelm me.

Do my expectations overwhelm me?
At times, yes. Because it's not just finding a song that fits the footage, but many many hours ...days, sometimes months of going over history and re reading the novel.
I must admit, I enjoy just doing a regular amv or gmv that requires no studying History. I usually have a few of those going to give me a break from the Three Kingdoms. But I do love the history.

And how do you think others perceive you and your work? How does that make you feel?
In circles that study Three Kingdoms history they go over well. Kind of makes me feel a little funny, but in a nice sort of way.

I expect that I will continue to try to make AMVs which I feel are a personal accomplishment. I would hope this means improvement in a variety of areas, but much of that is in the eye of the beholder. If I look back on what I did and find flaws I previously could not see, I generally assume that means I have improved, or at least made progress of some sort from wherever I was at the previous time.

If I focused on other people's expectations, I'd probably be very unhappy.

I know what's changed. From non stop ideas and visualizations to songs to not thinking up ideas and not visualizing so much and not caring so much. I'm not coming up with new ones as well as I use to and I don't care to since I don't care to have visualisations to every freaking thing I listen to. After a while that kinda gets old.. well at least it got pretty old for me. I like to do it every once in a while but not all the time to every song like I use to.. that can drive me crazy that visuals would come even when I didn't want them to!!! @_@

If I listened to a song more than once, the next time through exact footage came to me for every part of the song that existed in anime sources and I would end up being able to edit to it right away. I can't really do that so much anymore.. maybe because I may be discourage and because I don't watch anime as much as I use to... also I just make up visualizations that I would most likely have to draw to make them become a reality or make my own live footage. I thought of doing that a lot.. but I'd want something to be completely original like my own music or a friends music.

my expectation for myself is to try my best knowing i'll never be as good as my friends... i'm not a consistent editor but I like most of the things I make even though most people don't.
