lulz, Cal you made my morning ;3

Sooo can anyone outside the US borrow from your blockbuster stores... or even join?
I know that civic video here doesn't allow international people to join as members, but they also dont have dloads... or give a shit about US currency for that matter.
I really feel you are being ripped off over there because it only costs me $4 (that's about $3.60 US) to hire a new release anime,or 4 dvds of any type for $11, from my video store, which then takes all of 5 minutes to rip for later viewing.
8-)
new banzors in the making :p

In American English we only hire people, we rent property, in most commonwealth countries you hire property as well (this is directed at those Americans that may be confused by Aut's Australianism, and is not to be seen as telling Aut, who most likely already knows this).

At one point, before Zip.ca realized the error of the set up, a person was effectively able to rent/hire a dvd for less than a dollar.

And of course, the dvd was just as easy to copy then as it is now.

There current rates make the process effectively more expensive. But it still comes out effectively so much lower than Blockbuster, that one has to conclude Blockbuster only rents/hires dvds to people with more money than brains, or people with enough money and no interest in doing it better.

Vivaldi, what manner of idiot do you think actually MAKES the box (just out of curiosity?).

You can buy dvd cases from online stores in single disc, dual disk, 4 disk, 6 disk, 8 disk and 10 disk capacities. They are properly made dvd cases that accept the standard sizes of dvd jacket cover. The cases can cost under a dollar for just about any size.

As for the disk, that's not work. If the person has an obsession with the original disk image, they just download the original disk image, and then it's a case of telling the printer to print.

Printing a jacket, then a disk, then putting in case is like hmm 5 minutes if it's morning and the person is not fully awake yet.

How did you think it was done?

I actually used ebay a while back for some - still have 50 of them sitting around, waiting to be used for something.

I was referring to boxes from things like box sets e.g:

Ah with that one he chose the 'rent' download option, im speaking more of the purchase download option, where there is no time restriction, though im guessing the quality would be the same, doesn't seem too bad.

Well I dont think something like this will completely take over buying dvds or boxsets but I think its something worth looking into, for both us and the anime companies. Personally theres been a bunch of animes I didnt like enough to want to purchase, but wanted to use a scene or so for a video. At a cut price I think its worth it. Also, its easier and quicker then going to your local store to purchase. If everyones as lazy as me and I can sit at home and buy what I want and have it instantly, as opposed to making a special trip to the store to get it, or buying it online and waiting for it to be delivered I think its a good idea.

Ah my apologies. You both raised similar points so I was just referring to those. I dont think it will take the place of buying anime completely, but I think it could work as a good substitute.

I would gather most of us here KNOW you meant the actual card stock box that holds the individual dvd cases which are generally usually single disk items unless they are the multiple fold out type of disk holder that holds all the disks in a single item.

Anime is generally not sold in 10 disk or less types of dvd cases, although I have seen som rare examples.

But aside from the ability to have a box sleeve, to hold the dvd cases, if the person elects to stick with individual dvd cases, what is the gain precisely?

Do you get to prance and say "I've got the box set neener neener neener". "It's worth an obscene amount of money that you don't have".

I have Madlax in dvd thin cases in a card stock sleeve. I yippee fricking doo.
Anyone with any real skill with their hands can see that the card stock is basically the same as just about every grocery item you buy in a box.
1 ruler, 1 Xacto knife, 1 printout of the box art, some ordinary school glue, and I could have a box do identical to the one you bought you would NOT no the difference.
I might not be able to make an amv, but then 30 years some of it professional in multiple crafts and nope, it doesn't even qualify as work to me.

I don't need to be from hong Kong to make an easy virtual copy of the anime and con you on eBay.
I just don't feel like doing that sort of thing.

Not to mention the fringin box was never worth that much in the beginning. Why people attach worth to them is amazing.

"Oh I have the real thing". Do you? Are you sure? Where did you buy it?
